The Scottish government are waiting until after Sunday’s Glasgow derby to implement laws preventing mass gatherings of over 500 people.
With the World Health Organisation declaring a pandemic and the UK moving to a policy of delay from containment it seems incredible that the green light is being given to 50,000 people gathering at Ibrox on Sunday but outlawing 600 people getting together in Govan the following day.
FM: “The Health Secretary and I have decided this morning that we are minded that we will advise the cancellation, from the start of next week, of mass gatherings of 500 people or more.” #FMQs

Bizarre statement! Why next week is it going to be worse? Action should be now not next week.

Why is Monday the “unsafe” day? What makes it unsafe and why is Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday safe?
Could/ will someone from the Assembly advise?

UEFA are reported to be close to calling off all of today’s Europa League ties but it seems that the Scottish government want Sunday’s Ibrox match to go ahead.
Seven hundred Celtic fans have paid £49 for tickets to the match but the big earner is in hospitality suites where a premium is paid for this fixture.
While season ticket holders can get a credit on next season’s ticket losing out on hospitality for Sunday’s match will be a big financial blow for the Ibrox club who posted a Going Concern warning for this season.
The onset of the Coronavirus has seen matches in Sevilla and Milan postponed tonight with President Trump banning flights from Europe from tomorrow.
