At 10.30pm last night news emerged that a breakthrough was on its way to the stand-off in SPFL voting.

Since Friday tea-time Scottish football was left waiting on the vote from a Championship club to decide whether the lower three divisions would be decided on points per game to date with SPFL football suspended on March 13.

Over the weekend various theories were put forward as Dundee were revealed to be the club still to vote with mystery over a Firewall and what actually happened to the vote promised to Inverness Caley Thistle CEO Scot Gardiner.

Dundee remained silent all weekend but last night the Daily Record broke the news that the Championship club were about to deliver a decisive Yes vote that would give the SPFL board the green light to resolve the three lower divisions.

The Premiership will be kept on hold, waiting on further instruction from UEFA with their next meeting scheduled for April 23.

With no group training allowed in Scotland before June 10 at the earliest the next start date for the game will be closer to the start of the 20/21 season than March 13.

Now with the backing of 85% of the clubs the board of the SPFL has the mandate to award Celtic the 2019/20 title after Neil Lennon’s side built up a 13 point lead over 30 matches.
