Murdoch MacLennan has challenged Douglas Park to produce the evidence.

In mid-afternoon the interim Ibrox chairman called on the SPFL to suspend CEO Neil Doncaster while making reference to details from a whistle blower.

A few hours earlier former Rangers, Dundee and Hearts executive Scot Gardiner, now picking up a salary from Inverness Caley Thistle, gave a lengthy interview to Radio Scotland claiming that he had seen an image on Whatsapp of the missing Dundee voting paper.

What was shared on a Whatsapp chat and what reached the SPFL yesterday could well be two very different items but heresay was enough for Park to go firing in all directions to feed the hysteria and conspiracies of the fans who watched Celtic extend their lead from 2 to 13 points over the course of less than two months.

Responding to the Ibrox allegations MacLennan issued a statement with The Sun reporting:

It is extremely concerning that Rangers have chosen to make a number of very serious allegations against the SPFL, its corporate governance, its culture, its office-bearers and its business operations. In the often-heated atmosphere of Scottish football, rumour and misinformation can very quickly reach fever-point.

However, allegations of a lack of even-handedness and fair play go to the very integrity of the league and I would expect Rangers Interim Chairman Douglas Park to present compelling evidence to back up his claims, or to withdraw them.

I anticipate that the SPFL Board will convene early next week to discuss a wide variety of issues and I will be writing to Mr Park asking him to urgently communicate any and all information he possesses in order that the board can take whatever steps are necessary.

Ibrox Managing Director Stewart Robertson is also a board member of the SPFL board.
