Celtic are looking of ‘delivering additional value’ to Season Ticket holders as they consider paying out £500 with no guarantees of how many home matches that they will be able to attend in person.

The introduction of Virtual Season Tickets last week was warmly welcomed but as more details are revealed the innovation appears to be losing popularity.

Motherwell have promised Season Ticket holders their Virtual ticket and a pro-rata credit towards a future season ticket for each fixture that is played Behind Closed Doors or to a restricted crowd.

A similar deal would be warmly welcomed but today Celtic produced a four-page FAQ document, towards the end it got to the questions that Celtic fans are looking to be answered.

WILL THERE BE ANY CHANGES TO THE PRICE OF MY SEASON TICKET AS A RESULT OF THE VIRTUAL SERVICES?

The price previously communicated by the Club remains the same. Whilst we appreciate that supporters will be disappointed not to be able to support the team at Celtic Park for every match during such an important season, the Virtual Services ensures that Season Ticket Holders will not miss out completely on the action in these unprecedented times. It is our aim to have Season Ticket Holders back at Celtic Park as soon as we can and we are doing everything we can to achieve this. The Club is also committed to looking at ways of delivering additional value to our supporters over the course of Season 2020/21 and will provide further updates in this regard when we have more details.

IS A REFUND AVAILABLE FOR THE MATCHES WHICH SEASON TICKET HOLDERS CAN’T ATTEND DUE TO PANDEMIC IF THEY CHOOSE NOT TO USE THE VIRTUAL SERVICES (E.G. IF ONLY ONE LOGIN IS REQUIRED IN A HOUSEHOLD OF MULTIPLE SEASON TICKET HOLDERS OR IF A SEASON TICKET HOLDER DOES NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO ACCESS THE VIRTUAL SERVICES?)

Whilst the Club appreciates that not everyone may wish, or be able, to make use of the virtual services, there is no price reduction or refund available. It is our aim to have Season Ticket Holders back at Celtic Park as soon as we can and we are doing everything we can to achieve this. The Club is also committed to looking at ways of delivering additional value to our supporters over the course of Season 2020/21 and will provide further updates in this regard when we have more details

While the Virtual ticket is limited to existing season ticket holders it is riddled with flaws as well as the obvious issue of illegal streams.

At this stage everything is guesswork but there seems to be no one predicting that there will be full capacity crowds at matches in Scotland before the turn of the year.

As things stand there can be a difference of between £200 in Season Ticket pricing while a number of households will have more than one Season Ticket but will be watching on one screen.

On a more general level with such restrictions on the Virtual ST it would be very naïve to think that non-ST holders won’t be invited around to a friend’s home to watch live home matches.
