Rather than let it drift by Charlie Nicholas decided to hit back at Neil Lennon’s criticism of his transfer dealings.
After labelling the summer activity as cut-price the Irishman hit back at the Express pundit by claiming signing Messi and Ronaldo wouldn’t have drawn any praise. It was a view that got almost unanimous backing from Celtic fans across social media.
A week later Nicholas has revived the issue claiming that he isn’t a media sheep and hitting out at glove puppet pundits.
While Peter Lawwell has a few favoured sources in the media it would be difficult to point out any pundit singing his tune. Looking across BBC Scotland and Sky Sports it would seem that more than half of their pundits are from an Ibrox background with Kris Boyd, Billy Dodds, Neil McCann, Steven Thompson and Andy Halliday barely able to acknowledge let alone congratulate Celtic on winning 11 successive trophies.
Nicholas seems hurt that he is shunned by the Celtic support that adored him in the early eighties when he broke into the first team with a barrage of goals.
That generation of fans has watched media coverage for over 40 years to make their judgements, the current crop of fans look on him as the guy that used to be on Sky Sports sitting there thinking about how to string together two sentences without mangling the English language.

He’s a media sheep alright. Heard it last season too. Remember rangers “won the transfer window” in January ??

Crazy to think this guy was brought up as a Celtic fan, played for the club & was once loved by the fans. Now happy to talk the club down every chance he gets. As Lennon said, hes been at Celtic for about 20yr & never once saw Nicholas near the place

More to be pitied than scorned, the last throws of a dying pundit, struggling for relevance . Trying to make a last piece of silver. Desperate for attention.

I imagine he’s not seen any of them play properly tbh

Best part of this is Charlie saying you play well you will get praise…yey he is critical of a club who’ve won 11/11 trophies and if they had played the same amount of games as the rest would potentially be top with a points advantage

Can someone please remind me of this man’s managerial credentials. Knows nothing about being a football pundit, but seems to think he can tell managers their job. You just know when he’s trending, it’s for something completely irrelevant.

As my old granny used to say, never trust a turncoat who looked like a refugee from a Duran Duran tribute act.
