Neil Lennon has given the first indication that his second tenure as Celtic manager could be over.

After watching his side lose 2-0 at home to Ross County in the Betfred Cup the Irishman gave no indication that he was considering his future when he spoke to Premier Sport.

Further interviews followed with Celtic TV and BBC Scotland but by the time he sat down for a general Zoom conference call his tone had changed.

Throughout a run of two wins in 10 matches Lennon has been dismissive of any suggestion that he could resign or be sacked. Before the defeat from Sparta Prague last week he said that Peter Lawwell had been very supportive.

On Friday morning he reported on another supportive conference call with Lawwell and Dermot Desmond but the end of a 35 match winning run in domestic cup ties may result in a change of mind from the club hierarchy.

After winning the 2019 Scottish Cup Final against Hearts at Hampden Lennon took on the job with a 12 month rolling contract.
