There wasn’t much love around for Leigh Griffiths this afternoon as Celtic announced that the striker was joining Dundee on a season long loan.

The deal had been widely anticipated with the striker releasing a video clip wearing Dundee’s training kit inside Dens Park.

Very few players score more than 100 goals for Celtic- Griffiths can add in being a member of the Quadruple Treble winnering sides but he leaves the hoops under a cloud after seven years service.

Last summer Griffiths was left out of pre-season training due to his physical condition following Lockdown, on the back of that he failed to complete 90 minutes with his new 12 month contract announced on July 1 a major surprise.

Now, less than two months later it seems that his Celtic chapter has finally closed with the problems of the last few seasons casting a massive shadow over his legacy.

As part of the loan deal Griffiths won’t be able to play against Celtic but he can expect a very lively reception at almost all Premiership grounds.
