Celtic are apparently comfortable with Brian Wilson peddling the Continuity Lie about Rangers, the club that went into administration then liquidation in 2012.

During the week the Celtic director penned a glowing tribute to Walter Smith making no comment on the trophies won with players not properly registered with the SFA and SPL while defrauding the Exchequer through a scheme of disguised remuneration.

Those issues made the club toxic, Dave Murray dumped them for £1 in May 2011 with Smith handing power over to Ally McCoist that month.

In February 2012 the club went into administration with the SPL deducting 10 points. In June when a CVA was rejected by Her Majesty the club went into liquidation with a tribute act admitted to the SFA and being parachuted into League Three ahead of clubs in the Lowland and Highland League.

Discussing that period in The Guardian Wilson wrote:

However, by this time, the club was caught up in a bewildering series of intrigues and takeovers as well as having been punished with demotion, in 2012, for having gone into administration. Smith was a man of great probity and not even his loyalty to Rangers or to his friend Ally McCoist, who had taken on the role of manager, could persuade him to stay in an Ibrox environment he did not recognise.

The Guardian have slightly amended to the version on show today which is still a lie, there was no demotion, the club died like Gretna. Hearts, Dunfermline, Dundee and others had points deductions for going into administration but no club has been demoted or relegated.

However, by this time, the club was caught up in a bewildering series of intrigues and takeovers as well as having been punished with demotion, in 2012, after applying for liquidation. Smith was a man of great probity and not even his loyalty to Rangers or to his friend Ally McCoist, who had taken on the role of manager, could persuade him to stay in an Ibrox environment he did not recognise.

Ginty88 is part of the team at 90minutecynic, taking part in some Neil Lennon media conferences last season.

The SFA, SPL and SFL put together a Five Way Agreement with the two Ibrox clubs that gives the tribute act a different set of rules to other SFA clubs, in 2019 Peter Lawwell told Celtic shareholders that no one at the club was involved in drawing up the 5WA and that he had never seen the document.

EDITOR: I’m well aware of that, King and many others voted against but it was the vote from Her Maj that made the difference, sent them to the crematorium.
