There was only one question in the thoughts of Celtic fans after the goal-less draw with Livingston- why did Giorgos Giakoumakis take the stoppage time penalty.

Last Saturday Josip Juranovic scored from the penalty spot against St Johnstone, in interviews during the week he spoke about his added role in the team.

It had been a brutal 90 minutes with Livingston defending in depth while getting every break from Bobby Madden whenever their players hit the deck.

With six minutes added on for time-wasting it looked like Celtic had been gifted the chance to claim full points when Kyogo Furuhashi was struck in the penalty box, even Madden couldn’t overlook it.

Giakoumakis claimed the ball, took a hesitant couple of steps forward then saw his unconvincing shot saved by Max Stryjek who dived to his right.

There was one more half chance for Celtic when the ball broke to Giakoumakis six yards from goal but he couldn’t redirect the ball into the net.

After the match Callum McGregor explained that the club’s new Greek striker had been delegated to take penalties before the kick-off, as he trudged off the park at the end Giakoumakis looked as devastated as the fans that had watched 96 minutes without a goal.

Crucial kick and Calum should’ve overruled him. Juranovic has despatched two out of two. Chance to put the mankies under pressure and fckd it up. Need to learn to play over the top with these park the bus teams and shoot from outside the box. 85% position with 2 shots at goal cmon tae fck.

You just got to win at home in this leauge and break down these type of all behind the goal keeper teams no excuses and for fck sake score from a penalty thats few celtic have missed over the last few weeks sort it out ange f#cked it again today to go top just not good enough from celtic still a long way to go .

Why did Ange not stick to the penalty taker ,he alone decided giakomakis was the delegated penalty taker ,why fix it if it ain’t broke ,was our croation penalty taker over ruled.im not sure what went on but that penalty miss could cost our season ,we had a chance to go top ,now we’ve blown it , that 2 points we gained on Sevco are probably gone now , were back to 4 behind ,if we are so good how can we not beat Livingstone ,I accept playing at the plastic Tony macaroni beats us but surely to f# CK we can beat Livingstone ,it’s like they’ve got a hoodoo over us or their manager knows how to nullify us home and away ,so much for putting pressure on Sevco .

  • Jim Duffy says:

Juranovic , should have took that penalty ,he’s got form but I’ve heard Ange said giakomakis is the penalty taker when he’s on , didn’t that backfire ,points dropped like this are vital in the title chase why did Ange change things ,these cnuts from ipox are going to love beating well tomorrow and going back to 4 points ahead of us ,we shot ourselves in the foot today ,as for title winning I was so getting my hopes up that we are getting better and then once more the spar shop ,vg shop Livingstone nearly put us to the sword.

  • Jim Duffy says:

We should try and sign TAV pen ,at least he never misses ,how come he almost always scores with a penalty and we f# CK it up regardless who takes them ,we should sign TAV pen and just bring him on when we get a penalty ,he’s maybe good because he gets that many but seriously that miss today could cost us the title, imagine if we had won today and went top , pressure on sevco ,now they just think no matter how pish we are , Celtic will be worse ,we so missed an opportunity today I hope to F# CK we don’t live to regret it.

  • Jim Duffy says:

Juranovic should have took the penalty , blame Ange ,he made it clear who the penalty taker was , juranovic expert taker , giakomakis never took one ,wtf is going on ,mark me we should have been top of the table now Sevco are going to go 4 points ahead again,we had the chance to apply pressure but once more Livingstone have fucked us over, point being should we not enough in our armoury to best livi.im totally at my wit’s end how we can’t beat Livingstone ,I’m pretty sure ferencvaros would have slaughtered them so what the eff is going on with us and LIVI,are they that good , would real betis and Leverkusen put 9 past Livingstone , when we can’t put one past them, maybe we should deploy Livi tactics in our next Euro games ,ie you can’t score goals.

  • James Duffy says:

I’m totally disgusted why did juranovic not take that penalty ,I thought Ange said he was the penalty taker ,mark me ,that decision and missed penalty today will cost us the league and CL riches , juranovic scores with the penalty we are top of the league , pressure on Sevco ,oh no wait we missed the penalty because we never let juranovic take it and score, and now Sevco will go 4 points ahead and they know we also buckle under pressure.one more point how come every other team in the league know how to beat Livi and we don’t bad enough trying to beat them at Tony macaroni but we can’t even beat them at home ,maybe when real betis or Leverkusen come visiting us home ,we should maybe consult Livi how to stop scoring 3 or 4 against us

  • Jim says:

Why on earth would you publish these tweets. The guy missed a penalty like many others each week. Are they all given the abuse you have published. A Celtic site should be getting right behind the team, not this shite. Your headline is a disgrace. The tweet that read he should hang his head in shame. Get a grip. The writer and the editor should hang there heads in shame publishing such tweets.

    • James Duffy says:

The point being Jim we don’t get that many chances to pick up points even when we’re playing good but you’ve got to remember it’s a missed penalty but it was a chance to put pressure on sevco , now all we’ve done is show sevco were weak ,we should have been top of the league and if you think a missed penalty is no big deal ,try asking tavernier about his scored penalties that have won games and leagues,so your point while a missed penalty is not the end of the world it’s a big matter in football, that two points we dropped tonight because of a missed penalty could come back and haunt us ,and I’m afraid to say it probably will ,we had a chance to go top and we fucked it ,how come every bother team beats Livi and we can’t that’s now 4 points out of 6 in favour of Livi but never mind according to you every one misses penalties so no big deal

  • James Duffy says:

Blame Ange he made it clear if.giakamolsis is on the pitch he’s the penalty taker ,so Ange fucked up big time why did he not let juranovic take the penalty ,we would have won the game albeit we deserved fuck all out the game but at least we would have put pressure on sevco but now they have got renewed hope after our fuck up and will go back to 4 points ahead. One more thing how do other teams with so called less talent than ours beat Livi or at the very least score against them,?don’t be surprised if Aberdeen , Dundee utd st mirren ,hearts Hibs Sevco score against them ,we have learned nothing since they last beat us

  • James Duffy says:

Giakomakis got told from Ange that he will take penalties if he is on the park so you can blame at Ange for not letting juranovic take the spot kick ,seemples we fucked it big time today and now sevco will pull back the two points we gained in midweek, juranovic brilliant dead ball striker ,oh I know let’s give the chance to giakomakis doh! a definite Ange fuck up.

How to beat the “parked bus” ? from the turnover break as fast as possible with at least three players whenever Livi send some men forward- this requires speed and accuracy of passing and is potentially far more likely to produce a decent chance. The slow buildup and Bittonesque square passing is a statement of “I don’t know what else to do” and Livi just eat it up.. The Celtic crosses in the goal area never seem to find a Celtic player anticipating the tap-in.To play one up front without mid fielders in close support is futile.

Scoring early in these kind of games is Crucial and really has to be achieved since the longer Celtic go without scoring the opposition get more and more confident.Another problem is the have to win every game reality-how many of the current team are used to playing under that type of pressure ? then there’s the physicality issue !

Both Sevco and Aberdeen for instance “outmuscled” Celtic in the second half at Ibrox and Pittodrie because Celtic have too many little guys. I don’t think Calmac is a good choice as Captain- we need a Roy Aitken tough guy type and I think Calmac should have over-ruled the Manager’s choice and insisted the proven Croat take the pen, given that the

Greek striker had been largely anonymous. I would also impress on the players that the officials are their enemies and they will be subjected to flagrant cheating and that’s the reality of Scotland- the 12 men syndrome. .Its obvious the Greek striker just couldn’t handle the pressure- to miss the pen then a sitter is indicative of someone drowning in anxiety- oh for a Jan Hesselink !
