Showing a complete disregard for local matters and constituency issues John Mason yesterday demonstrated all that is wrong with politics and politicians.
The MSP for Glasgow Shettleston picks up a Holyrood salary for £64,470 plus expenses, an income way in excess of most of his constituents in one of the historically most deprived areas of Scotland. Yesterday four £60 parking fines were handed out to vans collecting food for the poorest people in the city.
Why could they not have parked legally?

Stretching from east of High Street Mason’s constituency is much more than the Shettleston area that it is named after. It covers through the Calton, Bridgeton, Parkhead, Dalmarnock, north of the River Clyde as far as the city boundary. It is genuine Glasgow east end.
Celtic is a high profile aspect of the constituency, bringing attention and visitors to an area of the city.
Yesterday The Green Brigade arranged another Food Bank collection, agreed with Celtic and publicised through social media. No one around the stadium from 2pm onwards wouldn’t have noticed the number of carrier bags in use, many with food destined for Mason’s constituents.
Rather than take the issue on board, to back and support it the £64,470 a year Holyrood representative decided to take a very different view on the issue.

They park in the same place every season with no issue, and no one at Celtic complained, or ever has.
Why don’t we employ people with some empathy and common sense?

It’s because of people like you that Scotland needs food banks in the 21st century
— Dane Thompson (@Danethompson10) November 28, 2021
Just wow. You would think you would have a wee look and see why people are so angry at this.
I see you haven’t responded to anyone.
MSPs like you really make me question the overall stand and undercurrent of the SNP?

My thoughts exactly.

Politician doing what politicians do , completely removed from reality instead of querying about legal parking he should be getting off his idle arse and using his position to prevent the need for food banks

What is worse?
1) Your comment.
2) The complete lack of common sense from the police officers.
3) The fact that we are 1 month away from the 22nd year of the 21st century and we are collecting for food banks.— Andrew Maclure (@MaclureAndrew) November 28, 2021
A rich country like the uk and we have food banks and people vote in tories, wait till they ruin the nhs your doctors surgeries clinics and make you either take out private insurance or pay as you enter hospital etc for your treatment and its coming so food banks are only the start mark my words read the book Brittaina unchained part written by 3/4 present tory ministers.
Spot on mate, I’ve been saying for ages the Tories welcome all the charities food banks and any other help provided by the general public, you cannot shame these filthy rich corrupt government , even in this pandemic you couldn’t make it up ,Britain in 1921/22 its scandalous
are we surprised that an msp with the surname mason puts the boot into Celtic and voters can vote him out at the next election
The only way to deal wlth this Mason is to vote Green at the next election.
