With Giovanni van Bronckhorst relaxing at home in Holland the search for Steven Gerrard’s replacement at Ibrox appears to have run aground.

Excitement peeked over the weekend as the former Barcelona man flew in to London then jetted away after apparently holding positive talks about the job. With Sky Sports News monitoring every move it certainly gave van Bronckhorst some profile after a disastrous spell managing in China.

Ibrox podcast Heart & Hand plus the Follow Follow message board have been trusted to relay information to excitable bears with most of Dave Murray’s favoured outlets left on the outside.

Various signs have been interpreted by fans that an appointment is about to be made but the cold reality is that Jermain Defoe will take charge of James Tavernier, Connor Goldson and Alfredo Morelos for training today with the international players returning tomorrow.

Fans have been exchanging WhatsApp messages about police preparing for an 11am media conference, tracking private jets from Amsterdam and shuffling the furniture in the Blue Room as signs that the new boss is on his way.

Once piece of good news is that Graeme Murty will be back for training next week ahead of the Europa League tie against Sparta Prague.

“Rangers are very impressed with their shortlist…”

As it’s the only piece of paper in the building not to have “WATP FTP” scrawled upon it!
I’d love to know if there’s any names on it that aren’t ex-huns or hun-adjacent. That’s been three non-sashers in a row in charge over there, they must be about ready to appoint a right moon-howler to match those in the boardroom!

Sevco’s promise of ‘Jam tomorrow’ IF the new Coach can win the title is not cutting the mustard – despite the assurance’s of ‘Favourable’ Referees and a possible brown envelope under the table.

Its a can of worms that no self respecting football coach would touch with a barge pole.
The one who gets the job deserves all he gets.
