Adam Montgomery appears to be on his way to join Aberdeen on loan.

The teenager has started seven matches for Celtic this season and made a further 11 appearances off the bench.

Kilmarnock were strongly linked with taking Montgomery on loan but now it seems that he is about to stay in the top flight with a reunion with Scott Brown anticipated.

The Daily Record reports:

Aberdeen are set to land Celtic kid Adam Montgomery on loan. The Dons are closing in on a move for the 19-year-old for the rest of the season.

And Stephen Glass will steal in ahead of English sides and Derek McInnes’ Kilmarnock in signing the youngster.

Celtic had previously agreed a deal with Killie but the Championship promotion hopefuls had to free up budget first.

Montgomery is well thought of at Celtic with Ange Postecoglou only sanctioning the transfer so his bright young talent can get regular football under his belt. He was rewarded with a new deal until 2025 last year and is seen as a future Parkhead regular.

Mongomery played a huge role in Celtic’s 2-1 win at Aberdeen in October, providing the assist for Jota’s late winner as the hoops celebrated their first SPFL away win since February.

With Niall McGinn moving to Dundee and Ryan Hedges attracting interest from the English Championship there is likely to the opportunity for Montgomery to play on the wing for Stephen Glass’ side.

At Celtic Montgomery has alternated between left-back and left wing, if the deal goes through he could make his Dons debut away to Ross County tomorrow night.

I do think this is a good move for Celtic and The Dons. For The young lad Montgogery it’s also going to a club where his former Captain now plies his trade and knows Adam and will bring him on. We need our promising talent playing regular SPL/EFL football and come back improved players. Bit annoyed about the lad going to Belgium on a loan to buy option.
