With his first sighting of goal Daizen Maeda swept a low pass from Tom Rogic beyond Matt Macey into the net- what a start to your Celtic career.

John Hartson was behind the goal in the Celtic TV studio, his old Celtic team-mate Chris Sutton tends to use his words very economically. He was impressed.

Whatever some might say strikers are measured in goals. All the support play, link up work and the rest are to be commended but it is the end product that they get judged, bought and sold by.

You Tube reels come with a word of warning but two and a half weeks after being announced as a Celtic signing Maeda delivered in front of a live audience of close to 60,000 fans.

Over any time span you care to mention Celtic fans have been treated to fantastic strikers, from McGarvey and McClair through Stokes and Hooper to Griffiths, Dembele and Edouard.

Maeda has a big jersey to fill but showed last night the attitude and ability to step in for Kyogo Furuhashi with the mouth-watering prospect of a double Japanese strike partnership further down the line.
