Vasilis Barkas has dropped a transfer hint by posting a brief ‘on the road’ message on his Instagram account.Â
The goalkeeper has made just two first team appearances this season and appears to have dropped to fourth choice behind Joe Hart, Scott Bain and Tobi Oluwayemi.Â
Barkas rarely posts on social media but shortly after 4pm he posted the clip shown below.Â
It could of course mean absolutely anything but in the modern age footballers do like to tease on social media ahead of significant events.Â
Barkas was signed in July 2020 soon after Celtic had failed to get Fraser Forster on loan but never really took to the job with fingers pointed in his direction after the Champions League defeat from Ferencvaros.Â
After losing three goals to AC Milan in the opening Europa League tie he shared the goalkeeping position with Bain and Conor Hazard as Celtic’s season went into freefall.Â
With his contract running until May 2024 it seems most likely that the Greek internationalist will be going out on loan with little prospect of Celtic recouping anything like the £4m that they paid AEK Athens for the player.  Â

Hes an international goalkeeper. Couple of clangers and everyone jumped on the bandwagon then that sets the tone for fckn goalie watch, every kick,touch,disnae come out for balls cannae pass was criticized. Big hart disnae come out for crosses suspect at a few goals? So where is the same ?? Blinkered by media pressure.
I’ve got to agree with you on that Steve,he was international goalie and aek Athens goalie ,did he just become pish when he signed for Celtic ,I don’t think he got a fair crack of the whip, remember how pukki was villified,look at him now ,same thing nearly happened to Ralston ,media pressure picked up by Celtic fans ,if we’re not careful starfelt will be the next victim of the MSM.every one seems down on him at present.
