While his team-mates were cruising to a 4-0 win away to St Mirren Filip Helander was checking in to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital along the M8 towards Ibrox.

The defender twisted and fell awkwardly in the 42nd minute and looked uncomfortable as he made his way off the pitch.

Balogun isn’t included in the Europa League squad but his likely absence puts further pressure on Giovani van Bronckhorst’s squad.

Teenager Leon King replaced Helander today but the other options to partner Connor Goldson in central defence are the injury prone Leon Balogun or Calvin Bassey, if Bassey is picked it means a return at left-back for Borna Barisic.

Helander was out injured between September 11 and February 12.

John Lundstram also picked up a first half injury but van Bronckhorst replaced him with Steve Davis and has Scot Arfield, Ryan Jack and Glen Kamara as alternatives to the highly paid former Sheffield United man.
