Soro offered surprise exit route from Celtic

Ismaila Soro could be offered a route out of Celtic by the man that signed him in January 2020. 

The midfielder never played a single minute before Lockdown halted the 2019/20 season then had to wait until December when Neil Lennon introduced Soro and David Turnbull to the side for the Europa League dead-rubber with Lille. 

While Turnbull kicked on and made himself a fixture in the side Soro’s early promise soon faded away with his future clearly away from Celtic. 

The Daily Record reports: 

Neil Lennon has could be set to raid Celtic as he targets a move for Ismaila Soro, according to multiple reports in Cyprus 

The former Hoops boss has enjoyed early success with Omonia having lifted the Cypriot Cup triumph within months of joining the Nicosia club. 

Having secured Europa League football he is looking to revamp his side with reports in Cyrprus stating Soro is top of his summer wish list. 

Lennon splashed out £2million to sign the 24-year-old from Israeli outfit Bnei Yehuda two and a half years ago. 

He enjoyed an impressive run of form last term under Lennon, but has failed to repeat that during Ange Postecoglou ‘s time in charge. 

Celtic would need to offer Soro a considerable financial sweetener to move to Cyprus with the player still very much in control of his movement. 

There seems virtually no prospect of rebounding back into Postecoglou’s plans but on a decent salary he could decide to see things through till the end of his deal. 

Last season he started just six matches plus 13 appearances off the bench during which he managed to pick up four bookings, three of them in European matches.
