It has become a big favourite of the click conscious Daily Record as they attempt to portray matters at Ibrox as being the centre of football.

The ‘World media reacts’ template can be dragged out at the slightest opportunity with any European victory the perfect opportunity to bang the drum for all things Ibrox.

As one response to the tweet summed it up Tuesday’s win was in a qualifier for a qualifier.

Across Europe no-one outside of the clubs involved really cares for the Third Round qualifiers of the Champions League, there might have been a flicker of interest in PSV Eindhoven against Monaco but little else. Certainly not in two clubs that have never competed in the Champions League before.

Media interest would be from the Press Association, providing a filler line perhaps in Milan, Munich and Madrid.

Shrinking budgets and reporting teams isn’t just confined to the Record where print circulation is now below 70,000 per day.

Champions League interest will start of August 25 when the group stage draw is made, when the big clubs get to stretch their legs- not when a Belgian club loses out in their first UEFA tie in 58 years.

Tomorrow the Daily Record will have their usual special access to Ange Postecoglou while Celtic fan sites are lumped in with broadcasters like BBC Scotland and STV. Celtic Communications Manager Iain Jamieson is a big fan of the Record.

Ahh, the Daily Record! If you wanted to buy a copy of the tabloid, it will cost you as much as Murray sold Rangers mark 1 for to Craig Whyte! £1 As the lyric of the song goes , where do you go when you get to the end of your dream?
