The Daily Record has managed to conjure up an Ibrox Good News story by revealing that Rayan Kent is the ‘top chance creator’ in Scottish football.

It isn’t stated who won that coveted trophy last season.

With the Ibrox Tribute Act being ridiculed across Europe after returning the worst ever performance in the Champions League the need for some good news has been greater than usual.

Stories about ‘Google Searches’ or players overwhelmed by the atmosphere of Fortress Ibrox are regularly called upon to keep their army of readers comforted during testing times. Alex McLeish almost signed Lionel Messi on loan before he had made his Barcelona debut.

Today the Daily Record announced:

Rangers star Ryan Kent has been named as the Scottish Premiership’s top chance creator so far this season despite criticism of his performances this term.

The 25-year-old has yet to recapture his best form this season having found the net just once so far this season while Gio van Bronckhorst ‘s men trail Celtic by four points in the title race and have crashed out of the Champions League. Fans and pundits have taken aim at Kent for his Rangers performances this term, with Ibrox icon Ally McCoist among the leading critics after branding the winger “lazy” after his displays in Europe.

However, stats boffins Opta have revealed that Kent remains vital to the Rangers side and has carved out the most opportunities for his teammates in the least amount of match time this term. During his 785 minutes of game time so far this season he has created 39 chances and secondary chances from open play.

That record narrowly finished above James Tavernier, who created 39 chances in 1080 minutes of action, while John Lundstram has the third best record in the top flight at 32 in 1031 minutes. Hibs winger Martin Boyle has also shown his value since his return to Easter Road, creating 31 chances in 937 minutes.

Next month the Record are expected to revive their trusty ‘Leeds line up Kent swoop’ with the winger out of contract in May 2023.

That’s a BELTER and clutching at straws to use that stat as a selling point to try and punt him.

  • BriBhoy says:

WTF is a “secondary chance”??!! The only chances this clown creates are opportunities for his club to fleece the gullible halfwits that support it. He’s gash. Our central defenders have a better goal scoring record than this guy, who they hailed as a goal machine when the wasted £7m on him.
