Nick Walsh will be in charge of the Ibrox Tribute Act when they host Hibs on Thursday night.
This will be the third successive time that the Bearsden PE teacher will be in charge for a visit to Ibrox for Hibs. Thursday will be the 16th SPFL fixture of the season, Walsh will be refereeing the Ibrox side for the fifth time.
So far this season 16 different referees have taken charge of Premiership matches, it seems like overkill having the same man in charge of almost a third of those games, his previous fixtures were away to Celtic in September plus home matches against St Johnstone, St Mirren and Aberdeen.
With no club asking questions of the SFA, Crawford Allan knows that he can make any appointment that suits him without being challenged.
Last October Walsh gave Ryan Porteous a first half red card at Ibrox with the homeside overturning a 1-0 deficit to take full points. Walsh also sent Porteous off against the Ibrox club during a 3-0 defeat at Easter Road in December 2019.
During office hours on Thursday Walsh will be working on the fitness of Murray Park starlets at Boclair High School before switching location to Ibrox for his evening fee.
??”When you look at it, he has gone over the top of the ball. Luckily he didn’t catch the man as badly as he could have done.”
Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher says Ryan Porteous’ tackle on Joe Aribo was a red card. Do you agree?? pic.twitter.com/VHfN7YZpk6

2 pens, Porteous sent aff.. They don’t even try tae Fukin hide it anymare!
Got to get Beale off to a winning start. Walsh is a cert to do it for them. Doesn’t even hide it now…
Hibs player , hand ball , VAR check . Penalty given .
Then a couple of days later , sheep player , same hand ball , no penalty given , not even checked
Cert
Don’t worry , Liewell will be all over this .
On average, after 16 games , that should read 8 home , 8 away .
If Walsh is I brokes tomorrow , that will 4 out of 8 home games for Sevco .
How can one referee be appointed for 50% of home games , and nothing be said …before taking into account any contentious decisions ..
Put your money on 3-0 home win .
If the Rangers had an extra player on the park hoping no one noticed against Hibs ,it would go unpunished using semi foggy weather as the reason why ! Nothing shocks or surprises me anymore as far as Scottish football officials are concerned ! Yes , the continued inconsistent refereeing decisions are a disgrace ,but when Celtic are winning games ,everything else becomes irrelevant …..
There are no rangers John – They died in the summer of 2012 – I always refer to them as Sevco but do refer to The Old Club (Not oldco) as Rangers !
Is “Copeland” Irish, John?
