Micky Beale has revealed that he wants to dump 25% of his current squad.

Charlie McCann and James Sands have left since the former QPR boss took charge with massive expectations for a summer ‘revamp’.

Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Jack and Allan McGregor were involved on Sunday against Celtic but are out of contract in the summer.

While Beale might want to make big changes James Tavernier, Ianis Hagi and Connor Goldson have recently signed contract extensions while summer signings John Souttar, Ridvan Yilmaz and Rabbi Matondo are on long term deals.

There isn’t much room to wheel and deal but covering today’s media conference the Rangers Review reports Beale outlining the changes he has in mind:

At the moment we have started it in terms of the work we’re doing behind the scenes. But we know come the summer, it’s an interesting moment for the club in terms of changing the makeup of the group. I’ve sat in front of you before and said that I think 25 percent of the squad will turn over. I said that in one of my first meetings. I’m sticking by that, that’s still the case.

Do you feel you have the resources to make that level of change?

We need to reduce the number of the squad. If you look at our squad, we’ve carried a large number of players because of injuries. We need to reduce the number of the squad. In terms of our budget, I think it is outlaid a little bit large in terms of numbers.

So, we want to reduce the number and increase the quality. I think I know where you’re going with the questioning, and I agree, we need to do some really, really good work.

And listen, I’m sat here as the coach and I came back knowing that, the last 90 days I haven’t had many surprises about how big the job is. I didn’t think I was going to walk in and win the first 15 games and pick up the League Cup and everything would be rosy. I knew there’d be some bumps on the road. When they come, they don’t feel good if I’m honest.

But come this summer I’ve identified some players. The clubs identified some players. To me, it’s about going and getting that work done swiftly now.

Getting a rebuild completed in time for European qualifiers is a tight timeline that will test a training ground genius like Beale.

Nobody asked today why he never played the 2 duff signings from January from the start of the game on Sunday.
Maybe one journalist will get the nerve to ask him the next time just how much money he will to spend on those summer signings.

Blah blah blah, effin windbag. He’s just trying to say the right things so the gullible will fork out for their overpriced season tickets. He knows fine well they’re skint. He’ll cut the squad to reduce the wage bill only. They’ll be picking up bargain basement dross, as usual.
Another summer of discontent coming up for the zombies.
