Celtic’s B team were up against it today when they faced Alloa Athletic in their final pre-season friendly, going down to a 4-1 defeat from the First Division side.
Brendan Rodgers called up about 10 of last season’s squad for first team training in the Algarve but Bruno Davidson, MacKenzie Carse and Michael Frame returned early to play in today’s match which kicked off at 12 noon.
Darren O’Dea and Stephen McManus had a depleted squad for the match at the Indodrill with just three outfield players available as substitutes.
Ben Quinn pulled a goal back 11 minutes into the second half but the home side had the final say in the 84th minute when Stefan Scougall completed a well worked move with a shot from 10 yards out.
There should be more reinforcements in the squad for Saturday’s Lowland League opener away to Cumbernauld Colts which is quickly followed by matches against Caledonian Braves, Cowdenbeath and East Kilbride.

It,s warm up games, getting match fitness and with players missing the continuity isn’t going to be there , they,LL get back together with one or two new faces and settle again
Aye Kevin, exactly. An away game against a team 2 leagues higher and us with a depleted squad, it’s quite acceptable. The young guys will be ready to go when it matters.
Had it been the young new huns vs Alloa, Kenny Miller would be having it believed that it was reallyt “fine margins”!
Better to be silent and thought a fool……….., Kenny.
