The Daily Record has been forced to dampen down expectations that Jose Cifuentes is about to join the Micky Beale Revolution.

For six weeks the Glasgow based publisher has been preparing to welcome the former Celtic target but it seems that a transfer fee of $1m is proving an obstacle with the player becoming a free agent in December.

Last week the Record was building up to arrival number seven (already two transfer fees have been paid, one loan signing made alongside three free agents) but it seems that reality has now stepped in.

Unless Besiktas come in with an offer of £2.1m for Glen Kamara it looks like Cifuentes will have to stick it out in Los Angeles waiting on word from Mister Beale to join up.

The Record admits:

Rangers are shaping up for a waiting game as their move for Jose Cifuentes is put on temporary hold.

The Ibrox outfit are keen to get a deal done for the Los Angeles FC star having already negotiated a rough agreement several weeks ago. But the finer points of the £1million package required to land his signature have yet to be thrashed out despite claims Stateside that the Ecuador international’s switch was imminent. Record Sport now understands Rangers chiefs do not expect to be in a position to shake hands with his MLS side for another couple of weeks yet.

Sources close to the 24-year-old midfielder insist Rangers remain his No.1 option as he heads into the final six months of his contract. And with the potential for him to walk away on a free come New Year’s Eve, the club are confident they will still be able to persuade the Americans to sell in plenty time before the start of the new Premiership season.

In less than four weeks Beale takes his Al-Star squad to Kilmarnock for the SPFL opener followed quickly by a Champions League Third Round qualifier.

So they need to punt a player to bring in this guy

Watch out for the Daily Record and all the other hun rags starting to do hard sell articles on Kamara and Colak

Probably Kevin Thompson or some other ex hun telling everybody how brilliant players they are and how they’d smash it in any other league

You could set your watch by it

Nah , they’ll probably wheel out Derek Parlane or big Kirkie Broadfoot to eulogise on how wonderful the Rangers revolution will be ?

  • Bob (original) says:

Looks like this Cifuentes transfer story is going to run and run,

until midnight, September 1st – when the transfer window slams shut?

Unless, of course the player himself gets fed up waiting, and signs for another club.

Now, that would be very, very embarrassing for sevco! 🙂

One word covers this – SKINT.

Cifuentes is waiting on the improved sick benefit at ibrox, as soon as he can claim his wages while sitting on Miami beach he will sign.
The Rangers have the best sick benefit in the UK, why else would Gumtree bargains sign for them.
