Brendan Rodgers could make five signings before the transfer window closes at midnight on Thursday.

So far recruitment has been painfully slow for the manager and Celtic support with an injury crisis highlighting the limitations of last season’s treble winning squad.

Eight days on from losing at Kilmarnock there are still no additions to the squad with Rodgers making it clear that he is looking for first team starters rather than squad fillers.

David Friel tends to be ahead of the curve with Celtic news, in February 2021 he broke the news of Neil Lennon’s departure 10 hours ahead of the Stock Market announcement.

Late on Sunday night The Sun reported:

And SunSport believes boss Brendan Rodgers could make up to FIVE signings in the days ahead.

Several Celtic fringe men are also tipped to depart.

Honduran star Palma will sign a long-term contract and has been earmarked to fill the void left by Jota.

Aris boss Tolis Terzis confirmed the 23-year-old will join the Parkhead club and he could make his debut against Rangers on Sunday.

Rodgers is also targeting a central defender for the Old Firm game after an injury crisis in that area.

Cameron Carter-Vickers and Maik Nawrocki are out for two months, with Stephen Welsh feared to be missing for four.

Southampton stopper Lyanco is one of many defenders offered to Celtic in the last few days, but he is now off to Qatar.

The Hoops gaffer is also chasing a left-back.

He had been linked with Kieran Tierney but the Arsenal ace has moved to Real Sociedad on loan.

Striking support for Kyogo is high on Rodgers’ list too.

Getting that level of deals completed in four working days is a very tall order although Luis Palma’s move from ARIS Thessalonika seems almost over the line.

While the Recruitment Team work around the clock Rodgers has to prepare a side for Ibrox while keeping options open for new signings to be involved in the derby.

It would be asking a lot for someone to sign this week then go straight into the Starting XI at Ibrox but after two faltering performances Celtic need a lift from somewhere going into the first Derby of the season.

Rumours that are doing the rounds just now are that Roy is on the verge of walking away again and LIEWELL McVittie has his favourite lackie and tea boy lined up,yes THE BOOZE JOCKEY himself Neil Lennon.

    • Terence Nova says:

Where did you get these rumours from ?…Seem too far fetched to me….But on the subject of BR…He quickly needs to talk to the players and get it sorted…Something ain’t right and it shows.

      • Scud Missile says:

You see it’s people like yourself that LIEWELL just love as supporters don’t rock the boat, just give him and the club your DOSH.

        • Terence Nova says:

Do you read ANYTHING that people put on ?….I’ve stated on here that I’ve no time for the Board…and I gave up my long held season ticket in protest.
What is your situation by the way….??…Other than make daft comments.
Do yourself a favour and read stuff first.
Oh and you still haven’t said where the rumours came from !!

  • Scud Missile says:

Any criticism from the media over the weekend and today we DESERVE it.
We can’t score or beat Killie and St Johnstone but for some reason we can up our game against quality European opposition,no chance.
There is a very strong possibility we could take sevco’s crown off them as the worst team ever to play in champions league group stages, but that won’t stop the fans from turning up week in week out,and that’s why LIEWELL is laughing all the way to bank.

    • Jim Duffy says:

Got to agree with you there Scud ,we are our own worst enemies, always turn up f a full house no matter what dirt liewell and the board throw at us,I’m sure Rodgers doesn’t give friar tuck either because his body language is all wrong,we should be very afraid facing CL games the state we are in,the only way this arrogant board will take heed is there is some strategic boycotting going on,and not just sitting back accepting this shit show before the transfer window shuts.

  • Martin Blackshaw says:

If Celtic lose to ‘Rangers’ this weekend, I think it will spell the end for Brendan Rodgers. There’s no way Celtic should be scurrying around looking for quality players with only a few days left of the transfer window, it’s appalling management and heads should roll for it.

Rodgers himself has taken Kyogo out of his best position and generally has the team completely disjointed. If you watch training videos, the players also seem to have lost that spark of enjoyment. They look really miserable and that says everything all by itself. I’m not even sure if Rodgers cares that much, he looks completely benign and disinterested. He was a bad appointment and Lawwell’s return was a bad omen, which is now coming back to haunt the club. Shambles is the only way I can describe it right now. How these people ever became successful businessmen is a mystery to me.

    • Terence Nova says:

      Totally agree Martin…You’re spot on.
      Well said.
      As for successful businessmen…??
There’s always the Brotherhood to fall back on.
