Kyogo v Dessers- How one bear called it very badly wrong

Seven weeks into the new campaign and some predictions are already looking very foolish.

With current levels of anger off the radar regarding all things Ibrox it is easy to overlook the predictions that were being made before reality arrived with a 1-0 defeat at Rugby Park.

All through the summer bears were served a supply of euphoria as each of Micky Beale’s signings came accompanied with gushing praise.

Whatever the background story it was another hidden gem spotted by Micky Beale and about to be nurtured into a £25m sale to Al Ittihad after delivering a couple of titles to Ibrox.

Apparently Nico Raskin and Todd Cantwell were the blueprint, signed for £1m each in January they had run Scottish football for four months despite spending that time watching Alistair Johnston walk off with the proper honours.

Beale had teased the bears with some Instagram images of his trip to Italy- what could possibly go wrong when Beale takes his talent spotting to Serie A. Who would go to that market and come back with a couple of belters like Dessers and Lammers?

While Beale’s disastrous signings have given fresh life to Rabbi Matondo, Kemar Roofe, Ben Davies and even Scott Wright across the city the main man has been finding the net wherever he goes.

Goals at Pittodrie and Ibrox have given Celtic top place in the SPFL with his strike at Ibrox putting Beale’s head in the stocks for angry bears to take aim at. A year ago bears sneered at Kyogo because he couldn’t score against Their Tribute Act- in 2023 he has owned the derby with six goals scored into every net in the three stadiums inside Glasgow.

After last season’s free hit on a bed of roses the rookie Ibrox boss is finding out what Ibrox is really like rather than the artificial season of 20/21 when the Brains Behind Gerrard was in his pomp.

Beale and his signings are at the stage that many fans just go to Ibrox to vent their anger before screaming on social media for changes, they don’t know what but they know that the answer isn’t Beale and his job-lot of dodgy signings.

While Beale checks the terms and conditions of his contract on a daily basis big Cyriel has the reassurance of a deal until May 2027 as one of the highest earners at Ibrox.

What a time to be alive as a Hoops fan –

We should never be too complacent…

But six full seasons without a trophy seems like over 1,000 years ago these days !
