A year after going into hospital for an upgrade on his heart pace-maker, Murdo MacLeod’s daughter Marina has posted a highly emotional video of the last 12 months.

It is 25 years since Murdo was last directly involved with Celtic but the video includes more than a few flashbacks to his fantastic playing days.

In an era where trebles just weren’t on the menus due to the competition from Aberdeen and Dundee United MacLeod is in a small band of players to have played in three genuinely iconic Celtic triumphs.

Back in 1979 he completed his first season as a Celtic by belting in a 25-yarder to clinch the Premier Division title in the 4-2 match, in 1985 he was heavily involved in the dramatic turnaround in the 100th Scottish Cup Final, a year later he was alongside Roy Aitken and Danny McGrain as the league was won at Love Street.

Despite spending 100 days in hospital and later having to have his toes amputated MacLeod seems to be on the mend, before the home match with St Johnston he was pictured with some of his former team-mates inside Celtic Park.

I think my favourite Murdo McLeod goal was the 1982 League Cup Final thunderbolt v Rangers (as they were then) on that day the Celtic fans got soaked at Hampden – not that they’d have a care in the world, but second SFA and SFL class citizens and all that…

Another one that stands out was one that stuck in the stanchion v Motherwell I think…

Talking of stanchion – I preferred these type of goals and nets at Parkhead even though we’ve had more domestic success with the current format !

On another note, but still at Hampden when ‘their’ end was coverd and ours wasn’t, I remember this:

Morons, using ALL their wit: “The huns are getting wet”

We scored and then replied: “We’re singin’ in the rain…….we’re hap-hap-happy again…..

Therein lies the difference: a club that our supporters make “a club like no other” and a club (then) only a 2012 company now, that’s just full of hate, envy and long-gone supremacy. The Klan, as PMGB (rightly) calls them.

Joe, you consistently bring us ‘Celtic magic’. The Murdo story is another example.
    THANK YOU.
I’d love to ‘buy you a pint’ but, meantime, get back to me directly and I’ll send you the price of one.

Go through the Murdo links and try your best not to cry.
I failed and was ‘happy’ to.
This is what it means to be CELTIC and to have CELTIC coursing through your veins.
I’ll forever thank my Granda’ and my eldest brother for their faith and for introducing me to that “faith”. Not RC, CELTIC.
