Two very expensive road blocks to the Clement Revolution!

Despite the excitement over the Clement Revolution there are still some major obstacles facing the former Monaco boss.

In each of his three matches in charge he has started with Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers in his side, neither has made the same sort of positive impact produced by John Beaton or Alan Muir, genuine game changers.

Apart from the award of two penalties the loudest cheers in the first 90 minutes of the win over Hearts was for the substitution of two of Micky Beale’s summer signings.

The former QPR boss made a big play of his spying missions to Italy, no-one expected him to return with the Nigerian Kevin Kyle teamed up with another striker that averages two goals a season and a transfer every summer.

Worse than signing them, worse than paying out combined fees of £8m both players are on four year contracts!

Those weekly wage figures look to be on the light side, the sort that you’d pass to the SFA and SPL while pouring fortunes into offshore Trusts.

Players don’t move from Italy to Scotland for the weather, breakfast at Murray Park and five-a-sides with Tav and Goldson during the international breaks. Or for £18,000 a week with half of that going on Income Tax and National Insurance now that HMRC are paying attention.

Any competent agent will know of the £40,000 plus a week deal that Kemar Roofe signed moving from Anderlecht in the summer of 2020, a year after he had left Leeds United.

John Lundstram and Todd Cantwell will be on similar terms, claiming that Lammers is on almost one third of that is wishful thinking.

Good news for Clement is that Lundstram, Borna Barisic, Roofe, Ryan Jack and Leon Balogun are out of contract at the end of this season.

Yes, Clement should sign up more referees, [allegedly]. 🙂

Yep – Then he will never be ‘Beaton’ at Liebrox ever again !

  • John Copeland says:

Just watch the increased campaign to get rid of Butland for big millions of £’s in the January window by the SMSM and other outlets . It will be ramped up on a weekly basis for that will be the primary way to solve the money problems in downtown Govan land ….. He’s 6″ft 5″ and Shankland headed over him into the net from 6 yards out on Sunday . That’s how good Butland is ! Dear oh dear ….

  • Keith says:

Their biggest problem is they are up tae their knees in debt…??

  • Davie says:

Please leave The Rangers alone, if they can afford to spend their non existent funds on Dung so be it.
I’d much rather look at how Celtic can develop younger players instead of giving preference to Forrest, He has done his time and is to be thanked for past efforts.
Time to give youth a chance.

Let The Rangers spend, Celtic need home grown talent.

Editor: Celtic don’t have youth, take a look at Lowland League table. Our last batch of prospects was the 2000s with Aitchison, Henderson, McInroy, Welsh, Deas and Church. Sadly, development ended at u-17 level.

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Yeah Davie – Late The Rangers spend…

They did in the 90’s and made ma life (and surely your’s as well) a misery for that decade –

Aye – Giving youth a chance is a nice thought – but this is Scotland and Sevco (as I prefer to refer to them as) and if they had as much as a sniff of blood from a mile away these animals would lust to devour it…

If ‘The Rangers’ as you call them got their hands on any Champions League cash they would spend EVERY penny and more on their team and do EVERYTHING to keep their jackboots on Celtic’s throats –

One might say their director’s policy would be the correct one given that our custodians policy seems to be to revive the (deceased c.2012) Old Fi*m status quo of ‘competitiveness’ !
