Celtic are reported to be considering a move for Romeo Amane.

A google check will reveal a 20-year-old Ivorian playing in midfield for Swedish club Hacken which probably ticks the boxes of players not required by Brendan Rodgers.

Already this year Celtic have signed Tomoki Iwata, Odin Thiago Holm and Kwon Hyeok-kyu before topping up their midfield option by taking Paolo Bernardo on loan.

Rodgers is on record as looking to bring in experience first team ready starters for a vital transfer window after seven summer signings failed to make more than a token impact on the first team.

At tea-time tonight Mark Hendry of Football Scotland reported:

Celtic are considering a move for Hacken midfielder Romeo Amane.

The Ivorian, 20, has been watched by scouts at Parkhead who took in his clash with Qarabag last week in the Europa League.

The attacking midfielder played the full 90 minutes as his side were narrowly beaten in Azerbaijan. Football Scotland understands the playmaker has been watched closely by the Hoops as they seek to add to their squad in January. Hacken are believed to be looking for around £3million to sanction any sort of move for their man.

Football Scotland can reveal lower-level scouts within the Parkhead recruitment staff watched footage on Amane and that saw his name fast-tracked up the shortlist for a closer look among the decision-makers.

Amane scored three goals and provided three assists for Hacken this season and played throughout their entire Europa League campaign including in games against Bayer Leverkusen, Molde and Qarabag. He has been linked with Ajax earlier this year and played against Aberdeen with Hacken where the Dons were knocked out of Europa League qualifying.

In June 2022 Hendry was first to break the news of Celtic’s interest in Alexandro Bernabei, the club’s first ever Argentinian signing.

That deal hasn’t lived upto expectations but it did confirm that Hendry has credible transfer sources involved with Celtic.
