Peter Lawwell found something better to do on Saturday afternoon than watching his beloved cash cow but even he wouldn’t be aware of how events turned during the match against Hearts.

With the Green Brigade suspended the elderly support can barely raise a song to back the team but late on in the defeat from Hearts they found their voice without any prompting or drum beat.

Not since the early nineties has SACK THE BOARD been heard at Celtic Park but spontaneously with 12 minutes left to play there was no escaping the sentiments of thousands of ‘entitled customers’. After a short pause a far more specific chant went up, getting the same level of support across the ground.

While Lawwell wasn’t at the match to hear the chant all of his colleagues and the executives within the club had their ears burned as fans vented their anger on the man that appointed them to their current job.

With the depth of anger from the backbone of the club evident Lawwell will find it difficult to hide behind the success on the park while he micro-manages every aspect of the club as highlighted by his talentless son heading up First Team Scouting and Recruitment.

One of his media messengers, fed good news stories on a rota will come out on Monday with some deflection tactics but there is a full week for supporters to mobilise their anger and protests before the least appealing fixture possible- a home match with Livingston two days before Christmas.
