MOTHERWELL, SCOTLAND - OCTOBER 27: Motherwell's Liam Gordon fouls Celtic's Adam Idah which results in a red card after a VAR check during a William Hill Premiership match between Motherwell and Celtic at Fir Park, on October 27, 2024, in Motherwell, Scotland. Six days after being injured against Motherwell Adam Idah has been pictured training with his Celtic team-mates at Lennoxtown.
There were fears that the striker could be out of action for a lengthy period but that seems unlikely with images released from training this morning ahead of the League Cup semi-final against Aberdeen on Saturday.
Idah was on the receiving end of a brutal challenge from Liam Gordon during stoppage time of Sunday’s 3-0 win at Fir Park.
After initially awarding a yellow card David Dickinson upgraded that to a red after consulting the VAR monitor.

Idah played on but left Fir Park with his foot in a moon-boot then missed Wednesday’s 2-0 win at home to Dundee.
With Kyogo Furuhashi the only other genuine striker in the first team squad the loss of Idah suddenly leaves Rodgers short of options although Daizen Maeda provided good cover at the start of the season.
Following the cup clash with Aberdeen Celtic are at home to RB Leipzig on Tuesday then face Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday November 10 ahead of the international break.

Here’s a thought, if a player is injured by a deliberately brutal tackle like this then the offending club and player should pick up his wages while he is injured. An independent doctor could adjudicate.
Going into a tackle at full speed with studs showing is a deliberate choice and while the loss of some Neanderthal for a couple of games will follow it is not enough. There must be some sort of compensation for the victim.
Duncan Ferguson was jailed for three months for headbutting John McStay so what is the difference in trying to break an ankle.
This is not to say every tackle resulting in injury should be included, accidents happen, but the more brutal ones are pretty obvious.
The media could play a more positive part in calling out this unacceptable side of professional football. Talk of ‘hard men’ and suchlike is wrong and should be called out for the thuggery that it is. A hard man is, for example, someone who steps under the ropes and faces an opponent who is well prepared in advance to meet the aggression his adversary is about to unleash on him. Contrast that with an arsewipe who knows his opponent is concentrated on the ball yet decides to inflict an often career ending assault upon him.
Dreadful assault on Idah. On your other point, why not promote Cummings from the B team. He’s doing well there.
