Kasper Schmeichel will undergo a scan on Monday to discover the extent of his shoulder injury.
The veteran goalkeeper was injured last Sunday as Denmark lost to Portugal but played on since the Danes had already used all six substitutes.
Schmeichel was reported to have left Lisbon with his arm in a sling, on Friday he missed training at Celtic with Viljami Sinisalo coming in to make his SPFL Premiership debut in the 3-0 win over Hearts.
It was virtually business as usual for Celtic as they won 3-0, Sinisalo looked sharp and alert early on as Hearts threatened but getting Schmeichel back and available would be a big boost for Celtic as they aim to finish the season with a treble.
After the match Rodgers said:
I spoke to Kasper last night. He’s got a scan on Monday. We don’t believe it needs an operation. It’s just going to be about how long it takes for it to repair and heal. So we should know more on Monday.
Celtic are away to St Johnstone next Sunday then face Kilmarnock at home in the final pre-split fixture in the SPFL.
I thought Sinisalo did more than ok…Dealt with anything he had to…No worries.
Hi Joe – nothing to do with this article but saw the first half only of the Dundee game last night, and there was an incident shortly after the home side had gone 2-0 up where Josh Mullibgan made what looked to me like a good tackle on Yilmaz, about 30 yards out and the ball broke to another Dundee forward who promptly stuck the ball low past Butland – 3-0 Dundee, I thought until referee David Dickinson came to their rescue with a foul given against Mulligan. Extremely harsh decision imo and got his uncle’s favourite team off the hook. Your impartial thoughts, please?
