On Tuesday Celtic called a media conference for the return of Martin O’Neill.
Communications Manager Iain Jamieson was in charge of the event, making sure that all of his special partners got their content.
In mid-afternoon the broadcast media conference was released on You Tube. Among those invited was STV, two weeks after they ran with the Open Blade story from Celtic’s match away to Dundee United.
On Wednesday STV reporters went on strike over cut-backs and job losses. Times are tough in the declining world of legacy media. STV now employs Ewan Cameron to host a wacky podcast.
Jamieson chose not to invite any Celtic fan media outlets.
CELTIC FANS NOT WELCOME
Not even the token invite to two websites/podcasts to ask one question then go to the back of the queue while Jamieson helps out his legacy media friends.
On December 5 fan media outlets had their invites to media conferences withdrawn. They were told that it was under review, it is still under review with Jamieson trying to suppress criticism of the board that appointed Wilfried Nancy.
But criticise the Celtic support and you’ll get the red carpet treatment from Jamieson.

Celtic communications through December were utterly horrific. Peaking in the week after the League Cup Final.
On the afternoon of the Dundee United match the club used the resignation of Peter Lawwell to put the boot in to supporters. Again.
NICHOLSON STEPS UP FAN ATTACKS
Nicholson claimed that three staff members were assaulted at Celtic Park after the League Cup Final. Three weeks on no arrests or charges have been made.
Taking their lead from that attack on the Celtic support the legacy outlets excelled themselves following the Tannadice match.
STV, the Sun and especially the Daily Record waded in with glee. Especially Record hack Billy Gaddi.
The Record published the Open Blade story online on December 19. The story was utterly demolished by social media. The open blade was a high-viz vest.
Happy with the online reaction the Record printed the story the following day. Confirming their reputation as the Day-late Record.
CELTIC AND THEIR NEWSPAPER FRIENDS
With all of that baggage Jamieson set aside a special sitting for newspapers to speak to O’Neill. Lending a special hand to publishers aggressive to the Celtic support.
The broadcast conference from Tuesday filled newspaper pages on Wednesday.
Today they have their own exclusive content with O’Neill.
The multiple roles of Shaun Maloney were explained, transfer issues were discussed, O’Neill’s thoughts on Wilfried Nancy, his decision not to work for Sky Sports at the Glasgow Derby and his hopes for a truss between the board and the Celtic fans. O’Neill doesn’t want to be Celtic Chairman, he also gave his thoughts on the late John Robertson.
Clearly Celtic value keeping their newspaper partners sweet. Criticism of Nicholson is on mute inside newspapers, some are carrying sympathetic stories about the useless CEO.
The world is moving on. Daily Record print circulation is heading towards 30,000 this year. Digital revenues can’t justify the wages being paid out. Or the constant travel jollies.
Just as well they can count on a helping hand from Celtic to postpone the inevitable.

The Celtic fan in the photograph printed on all newspapers, can he not take some sort of legal action against all who ran with a false narrative against him, or maybe he wants to remain annonamous , either way somebody needs to be held accountable, enough is enough, let’s add Jamieson to the list off people went want out of our club if he doesn’t have the balls to stick up for the lifeblood of the club SUPPORTERS HH
Its unbelievable that this Celtic board, absolute no marks to a man incidentally, continue in post while consistently diminishing the playing squad and treating their customers with utter contempt. The first team is the ONLY thing that matters to supporters. A proper, well functioning board would be largely anonymous to supporters if they were doing their jobs properly. I get that the GB can be a bit of a law unto themselves at times but surely the issues there can be dealt with through dialogue and diplomacy. It won’t happen under this board or the absentee landlord however. Until there’s a clean sweep of the hierarchy there I fear we may lurch from crisis to crisis ad infinitum.
The thought of watching Johnny Kenny again running about like a headless chicken , missing 4 or 5 sitters then Shin coming on to replace him
Day 8 not even a rumour of a striker
Even though this Communications Manager is low down in the club food chain,
he obviously has a lot of influence with legacy media and fans’ media.
Apparently, he’s yet another one who’s been in the same job for decades?
Whatever the motivations – or pressures from above – he’s simply not performing
the job to a satisfactory standard?
…and certainly not to a “world class” standard!
The fact that the club did not demand an apology from the DR is unbelievable,
You would think the club provided the picture and the narrative
Oh wait ……
The battle continues,
Not

Next up from the daily Record….James MC Fadden is a thoroughly decent guy for being honest at declaring himself bankrupt owing £2.5 MILLION sovs to Hector whilst holding down 5 jobs simultaneously? Here’s his ‘World Exclusive! ‘
Plenty Daily Record Loyalists on CQN !
We’ve got rid of Peter, Paul and Nancy. It’s time Blade Runner Nicholson was leaving on a jet plane.
