The Celtic players delivered a fulsome thanks to the Green Brigade following the 3-1 win over Falkirk.
In midweek the Green Brigade and Bhoys made calls on social media for greater backing.
On the back of a 6-2 win at Hampden and a couple of days of sunshine the stage was set.
Pre-match a few thousand fans were at Celtic Park to welcome the players in song as they arrived at the ground.
Something different was in the air. For a couple of players this was their first real experience of the Celtic support in full flow.
Signed over the last year Ben Nygren, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kelechi Iheanacho must have thought that the Celtic Park atmosphere was a myth.
Over recent seasons the decibel level has been reduced, since the start of this season acrimony has been in the air at Celtic Park.
CELTIC START TO SHOW UNITY AND STRENGTH
With a five match shoot out to win the SPFL title there was a positive edge around the support for the match against Falkirk.
There were plenty of moments of concern during the first half. But there was barely any criticism from the fans.
Two brilliant goals lit up the first 45 minutes with Kieran Tierney heading straight towards Section 111 to celebrate.
Again there were periods of worry during the second half.
We know what they say about the ‘dangers’ of a 2-0 lead. In the 70th minute Falkirk put the outcome back in the melting pot.
Thankfully that scoreline only lasted 13 minutes. The Daizen Maeda struck again. Substitutes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain combined on the right, Maeda spun off his marker to tuck away a strikers finish.
Celtic finished the match with Alistair Johnston wearing the armband.
With the Canadian getting 20 minutes, Arne Engels starting his second successive and Maeda scoring there is something familiar about Celtic again.
There hasn’t been too much of an advantage playing at home this season but that may be changing.
With the players and Green Brigade pulling together Celtic are very much in contention for a fifth successive SPFL title.
