Celtic are reportedly going ‘all out’ to sign Kieron Bowie from Hellas Verona.
It seems the most far fetched of links.
In January Celtic were credited with an interest in the then Hibs striker
A fee of £5.5m took Bowie to Italy with Celtic turning to loan deals for Tomas Cvancara and Junior Adamu.
Anyone with a passing knowledge of Celtic transfer activity will realise that Michael Nicholson isn’t going to be bidding £13m six months later.
BBC Scotland decided to include the unlikely claim in their round up of transfer gossip
The Daily Record reports:
Celtic are reportedly ready to go “all out” to bring in Kieron Bowie from Hellas Verona this summer.
After Hellas were relegated last season, Serie A clubs have been circling the former Hibs frontman – who cost the Italian side £5.5million in January.
The Scotland cap impressed despite his club dropping out of the top flight with goals against Inter Milan, Juventus, Torino and Bologna.
And while boss Marco Baroni has reportedly club chiefs that the the 23-year-old is too important a player to sell this summer, Celtic are said to be undeterred.
Corriere di Verona claim that the Hoops are preparing a bumper bid to compete with Bologna – who are said to be in “pole position” to land Bowie.
It is said a return to Scotland is tempting for the hitman as they can “offer him the opportunity to compete in European competition.”
Verona have reportedly slapped a £13million price tag on Bowie in a bid to keep the striker amid intense interest.
Bowie scored four goals in 14 matches but it wasn’t enough to prevent his new club from being relegated. Or to earn the former Hibs striker a place in the Scotland World Cup squad.
CELTIC RECORD TRANSFER DEALS
Reheating transfer gossip from the previous window seems a nice lazy way to create ‘fresh’ content.
A fee of £13m would easily be Celtic’s record outlay, beating the £11m paid for Arne Engels two years ago.
Since Celtic signed the Belgian midfielder a campaign of panic has been launched by Celtic’s media partners.
Apparently that deal was seriously against the grain and not to be repeated.
That message was made to look very silly in January when Nottingham Forest offered £25m for Engels.
With the squad down to the bare bones on the back of three poor transfer windows Michael Nicholson reluctantly rejected the offer from Forest.
At £9m from Paris St Germain Odsonne Edouard is the most expensive striker to play for Celtic.
A player from a top club, regular champions of France and a player capped at u-17, u-19 and u-21 level.
Bowie looks a very unlikely Celtic signing this month. But his name will help fill some spaces with no real sign of activity going on inside Celtic.

The Scummy Daily Record are PATHOLOGICAL Fu**in LIARS…
Won’t stop two Celtic “supporters” ?? on ma street buying it today, tomorrow and every day…
Wasting their £1.10p or whatever the f*ck it costs to buy these days…
One wouldn’t waste it to saturate their Saturday night vomit with !
That’s fuck all clach,I bought a Sunday mirror for the world cup chart, first paper I’ve bought in years £3 .60 ,for a paper and there was fuck all in it,at the time I was too embarrassed to say no I don’t want it,I thought it would be £1.50 max.3 pound fuckin 60.
Ground control to Captain Tom
Nicholson would be spaced out under the desk if Marco Baloney asked for £13 for Bowie from Hellas Veronica.
Without mincing his words, the reply would be, “If Bolognese are in “pole position” to sign Bowie for £13m, they can have him, Tranquillity Base, over”
I think we’d see Nicholson moonwalking 100 laps around the Celtic Park pitch in his decompression suit first, before you’d ever see him doling out £13m for a player.
