Camilo Duran is reported to be on his way to Scotland to undergo a medical ahead of joining Celtic.
The report comes from Sport Info of Azerbaijan.
Celtic were first linked with the Colombian striker by the Scottish Sun on June 19.
The hoops have since resumed pre-season training without adding anyone to their first team squad.
Now on the day of their first pre-season friendly it seems that there is concrete news of a signing finally being made.
Sport Info reports:
Camilo Duran has left Qaraba?’s training camp.
The Colombian forward has headed to Scotland.
He will undergo a medical at Celtic today and tomorrow.
The South American will sign a long-term contract with the British club. The parties have agreed on a 3+1 year deal.
Under what terms exactly this deal has been struck — both local and Scottish media cite various figures.
Some report £2 million, others £2.5 million, and others £3 million.
If you want to know, let’s just say the “Horsemen” (Qaraba?) have earned a profit of over €5 million from Duran’s transfer.
Qaraba? had signed Duran from Portimonense of Portugal last summer for less than £200,000. The 24-year-old forward scored 5 goals in 10 Champions League games last season.
A profit of €5 equates to just over £4.3m at current exchange rates.
Tonight against Shelbourne Martin O’Neill’s forward options revolve around Callum Osmand, Johnny Kenny and Shin Yamada.
It is fair to say that if the Duran deal goes through expectations on the Colombian striker will be sky high.
During 2025 Celtic sold off the goals of Kyogo Furuhashi, Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah. Daizen Maeda seems likely to be sold during the current window.
CELTIC CLOSE IN ON FIRST TRANSFER DEAL OF THE WINDOW
Most Celtic fans are looking for around six first team ready signings to be made, possibly more dependent on departures.
After tonight’s match Celtic have three more pre-season friendlies arranged on July 14, 18 and 25.
The SPFL Premiership campaign starts on August 3 when Celtic host Dundee.
Celtic will be seeded for their Champions League Play Off with those matches on August 18/19 and 25/26.
Last season Duran used the Champions League to make his presence felt,
Five goals in 10 matches announced his quality. Those goals came against Ajax, Benfica, two against Eintracht Frankfurt and a Round of 16 Play Off against Newcastle.
That is the definition of break-out but wasn’t enough to earn Duran a place in Colombia’s World Cup squad.
All going well Duran should be able to join Celtic in Portugal this week and get a run out against Sporting Lisbon on July 14.

Be patting each other on the back and off to recharge their batteries after all the exertion of getting a deal done .
