Celtic are reported to have made an enquiry about Haissem Hassan, at the same time as they are in talks with Ipswich over Daizen Maeda.
That was the news today from Anthony Joseph as Celtic fans grow increasingly concerned about the lack of signing activity.
Eight weeks on from winning the Scottish Cup Final Camilo Duran is the only addition to last season’s squad.
The SPFL Premiership opener is two weeks away with Saturday’s match against AC Milan the last friendly before the competitive action gets underway.

The language used by the Sky Sports reporter isn’t very encouraging.
At this stage most fans would be hoping that transfer activity is beyond making an enquiry. Similarly ‘exploring the conditions of a potential deal’.
CELTIC SLOW OFF THE MARK WITH TRANSFER BUSINESS
That of course is Joseph’s interpretation of events, presumably from a strong source.
By this stage Celtic really should have a strong outline on signing targets. Starting with the likely transfer fee and wage expectations.
A work permit would be required to sign an Egyptian internationalist. While that should be a formality is is still time consuming.
Quickly approaching on the horizon is the Champions League Play Off.
On August 18/19 and 25/26 Celtic will be seeded for a place in the lucrative 36 team group stage.
It seems inevitable that Maeda won’t be involved in those ties.
UPDATE: Ipswich Town have held talks to sign Celtic forward Daizen Maeda.
It’s understood the clubs discussed the conditions of a possible deal and the Hoops are awaiting a formal offer.

For a year he has been looking to move on, with 12 months left on his contract Celtic will be looking to claim a fee.
Talks with Ipswich are likely to flush out other interested parties.
After the draw with Middlebrough on Saturday O’Neill spoke of his hopes for bringing in new signings. He did avoid setting out any time line for that to happen.
Celtic fans will be watching closely to see if there are any new signings in place for the match against AC Milan.
O’Neill may have Kieran Tierney, Tony Ralston, Sebastian Tounekti and Yang Hyun-jun available.

He’ll be hard to replace but I don’t grudge him his move !
