Celtic are hopeful of signing Mika Baur from Paderborn.
That was the update tonight from Anthony Joseph as Michael Nicholson looks to complete his second transfer of the summer.
On Tuesday afternoon Fabrizio Romano was first to break the news about Celtic’s interest in the midfielder.
Although it is often the way that clubs operate the first update was that Celtic had agreed terms with the player.
Convention is that a deal is agreed with the club before permission is given to open talks with the player.
Whatever the mechanics Celtic fans are anxious to see new faces at the club with midfield a priority area.
Although no-one has left there has been speculation over Arne Engels, Ben Nygren, Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate and Paolo Bernardo could be on the move.

Christian Nerlinger is Baur’s agent, in January 2024 he was involved in the deal that took Nicolas Kuhn to Celtic.
As a German u-21 internationalist Baur obviously has ability but strong characters are needed at Celtic in the season ahead.
CELTIC RECRUITMENT ISSUES
Whether someone from the German Second Division has the ability to hit the ground running is up for debate.
Celtic face AC Milan in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday with Camilo Duran looking like the only new signing available.
Martin O’Neill is expected to hold a media conference on Friday where transfer issues are expected to be the main topic of conversation.
Celtic should have some of their World Cup players available for Saturday’s match.
The SPFL season starts off against Dundee on August 3 when Dundee visit Celtic Park.
Looming not so far into the distance is the Champions League Play Off ties on August 18/19 and 25/26.
Before the first leg Celtic will only have matches against Dundee, Kilmarnock and a seeded League Cup tie.
