The Daily Record has unearthed another billionaire to invest in Ibrox.
Neil Lal joins Craig Whyte and the San Francisco 49ers in being posed to pump billions into the black hole of Scottish football.
In November 2010 James Traynor and Keith Jackson introduced the man from Motherwell that went on to become one of the biggest legends in Scottish football.
Alas, after rolling a pound coin into the sweaty palm of Dave Murray the man with the googly eyes put Rangers into administration.
When Queen Elizabeth rejected the offer of a CVA the club was put into liquidation.
In February 2025 Jackson uncovered more billionaires. Multi-billionaires.
The story was introduced as the San Francisco 49ers. Two days later it was diluted to 49ers Enterprises before landing at the feet of mystery man Andy Cavenagh.
Apparently Cavenagh is a billionaire from the pharmaceutical industry.

Billionaire Neil Lal has reiterated his desire to become an investor at Rangers.
And the Scottish-Indian businessman is hopeful he can agree a deal with 49ers Enterprises to pump some extra money into the club.
The 49ers -which is owned by the York Family – became majority owners at Ibrox back in May 2025 in a mega move that was exclusively revealed by Record Sport.
The US-firm have certainly put their money where their mouth is, splashing around £70million across their first three transfer windows while bringing in approximately £37million through players sales.
With the apparent off the radar wealth of the 49ers it would be a strange move if the 49ers (Cavenagh) needed extra investment.
DESPERATE TIMES AT THE RECORD
Unfortunately tonight’s billionaire tale isn’t from Jackson but from Anthony Evans.
It is unlikely that an Aberdeen based online reporter has access to billionaire movers and shakers.
Mention of increasing the capacity of Ibrox is another old favourite at the Record.
That story has been doing the rounds since 1998 when Celtic Park was completed with a 60,000 capacity.
Various options have been explored by both clubs without any meaningful increase.
The latest idea has been to lower the pitch to increase capacity by a few thousands with the other alternative being to try and add capacity at the corners.
Back in 2010 when Whyte was introduced the Record was selling 270,000 papers six days a week.
These days around 30,000 copies roll out of Oldham to head up the M6 and M74 to the Record’s declining army of readers.
