Keith Jackson fears the reaction of Andrew Cavenagh to the events at Ibrox yesterday.
A year ago the veteran Daily Record reporter was banging the drum for the 49ers takeover with tales of billions of dollars being thrown into Scotland’s newest club.
Apparently Charles Green’s Tribute Act was a prime investment.
The so-called 49ersturned out to be mystery man Cavenagh. Apparently he made some money from health insurance but he is no Craig Whyte.
Cavenagh lovingly compared Ibrox to a castle when he completed his buy-out.
Yesterday he watched the natives go to war with the scenes of violence sent around the world.
For anyone tuning in pre-match they could have heard the impact of the seven-year-old Everyone Anyone campaign as a Tina Turner classic was bastardised.
CAVENAGH POURS £40M DOWN THE DRAIN
Who would want to invest in such a company?
Who would splash out £40m to be frittered away by managers of the calibre of Russell Martin and Danny, Danny Rohl.

Tucked away in Jackson’s thought provoking review of the match he mentioned:
Rangers owner Andrew Cavenagh watched on evidently aghast from the posh seats as his club was being dragged from an excruciating defeat into complete and utter disgrace.
Celebrating Celtic fans were of course blamed. None of them wearing masks to cover their identity.
Discovering that you have bought over the most vile, toxic right-wing support in European football must be a sobering experience.
Jackson scooped the sporting world with the news of the 49ers takeover. The initial story was watered down to 49ers Enterprises then plain old Andy C.
Borders Banker Paul Murray was revealed as the matchmaker that teamed up Cavenagh with Dave King and Douglas Park.
Ten days ago Paraag Marathe walked away as vice-chairman.
Since Cavenagh took control the club has lost a manager, CEO, Director of Football and Vice-Chairman. That is unlucky.
With £40m sunk in the squad they are out of the League Cup, Scottish Cup and finished the Europa League with four points from eight matches.
This morning they are six points behind Hearts in third place in the SPFL. Five of the nine remaining matches are away. Against St Mirren, Falkirk, Celtic. Hearts and one other.
In July Danny Rohl could be playing Conference League qualifiers…
In the Record Jackson reports:
This was a breathless, dizzying derby day and when it was finally settled from the penalty spot in Celtic’s favour, it also fried the senses of the mindless, mask wearing prepubescents who like to masquerade as ultras only, every now and then, to expose themselves as the gormless wee goons that they are.
There were some grown men on there too it must be said.
Rangers owner Andrew Cavenagh watched on evidently aghast from the posh seats as his club was being dragged from an excruciating defeat into complete and utter disgrace.
These entitled imbeciles came racing on to the playing surface from their section in the Copland Road stand as players of both sides, exhausted and some of them out on their feet, dragged their aching limbs inside to the sanctuary of the dressing rooms.
Some of Celtic’s 7,5000 away support also spilled onto the pitch and for a horrifying moment it seemed that all hell was about to break loose.
Mercifully, police and stewards kept them apart but, regardless, it represented a shameful end to a quite extraordinary game of football.
Jackson concluded his premium rate masterpiece with:
It now remains to be seen what other ramifications may still be to come for a club which will have been left reeling by how this all ended and by the sheer embarrassment of it all.
Loyal bears can renew their Season Tickets between March 18 and April 22. For more of the same.

It is also handy that they now have no obligation to reveal where the £40m has come from or what it’s secured on……
HH
Jackson has clearly stated here who was to blame! Scotland’s shame.
Safety cannot be guaranteed for a visit to Ibrox. There was a complete lack of safety procedures.
Why does he not do an article about the security at Ibrox ?
Easy enough thing to do
There’s lots of incidents involving Celtic players , staff and fans that I’m sure he could highlight
I wonder what Inaction’s Spidey Sense is telling him about theRangers’ bandage, Germoline and sticking plaster sales rep’s next move wil be ? Y’all come back now ye hear !
OK, Cavenagh isn’t going to be swayed by one match,
but my God, what must he think about ‘soccer’ now:
we all had to endure this brain numbingly, awful game out of duty!
Significantly, Cavenagh has no emotional attachment to the ibrox club.
If the numbers don’t stack up, and he’s not going to make the return he expected,
he’ll flip the club to any buyer with the money – and without a second thought.
He can’t be impressed with the ibrox support.
And, it looks like the ibrox project is going to take much more money – and much more time –
to deliver whatever Cavenagh is looking for in return?
He won’t have patience.
“A permanent embarrassment and an occasional disgrace” / Ian Archer, Glasgow Herald 1976 following their trip to Birmingham to play Villa.
50 years on and those words still resonate more than ever.
Delete “embarrassment and an occasional”
Correct TC – I was thinking of doing that but was on a train when I posted earlier and signal was a bit iffy.
Jeez he’s gonna be on a hit list after these comments for sure…
Didn’t take him long to go back to his usual pathological lies though with ‘extraordinary match’
Good he called out The Sevco thugs though !
