Graeme Souness has accused Manchester City of cheating Liverpool and called for title stripping.
Clearly the former Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United manager hasn’t heard an old saying about people in glass houses.
When Rangers cheated every club in Scotland over an 11 year period his answer was ‘but they won them on the pitch’.
Between September 2000 and May 2011 Rangers fielded players that they couldn’t afford with secondary contracts withheld from the football authorities.
When they stopped paying Income Tax and National Insurance HMRC stepped in. Rangers went into administration followed by liquidation. They died with only a deduction of 10 points as punishment from the SPL.
On Tuesday the EPL published details of over 100 charges that Manchester City were found guilty of.
City operated sham contacts as the norm allowing the club to have an additional £830m to spend over a nine year period.
This time the football authorities will punish the club. Teams such as Liverpool and Manchester United were denied EPL titles. Other clubs missed out on a Champions League or European place, some were relegated for operating within the EPL rules.
Newcastle United now have access to greater funds than Manchester City. They are operating within the rules and have just one League Cup victory despite four seasons of having incredibly wealthy owners.
SOUNESS CAMPAIGNS FOR FAIRNESS TO DRIVE OUT THE CHEATS
It is an argument that Souness should steer clear of.
Just because no-one in the English media will question him about the EBT payment he received from Rangers while managing Blackburn doesn’t mean that it never happened.
When it comes to crimes in Scottish football bingo, Souness is the only guy to have a full house.

Souness said:
The legacy is gone. If it goes the wrong way for them, they’ll be consigned to history as cheats, and whatever they did, whatever they won in that period, should not count,” he said.
There’s an argument for Liverpool to have a couple of Premier Leagues given to them. For City to be stripped of whatever they’ve won in that period of time… money’s not an issue for them, so whatever fine they get is just a scratch on the surface.
While managing Blackburn Rovers Souness signed Tugay and Barry Ferguson from Rangers, owned by his old pal Dave Murray. The money was paid to Souness 10 years after leaving Rangers for Liverpool.
THE ‘STRANGE’ CASE OF JEAN-ALAIN BOUMSONG
Later on Souness moved to become manager of Newcastle United.
In the summer of 2004 Rangers signed Jean-Alain Boumsong as a free agent from Auxerre. During his six months at Ibrox he had £630,000 paid into an EBT Trust without deduction of Income Tax or National Insurance.
On 1 January 2005 Boumsong joined Newcastle. Souness agreed an £8.5m transfer fee for a player available as a free agent six months earlier.
For a few months stay-over at Ibrox Rangers received £8.5m for Boumsong with the player paid wages with £630,000 paid into an offshore fund.
Souness has called Manchester City cheats for having an artificially inflated budget allowing them to buy players that they couldn’t afford. Other EPL clubs missed out on trophies and titles to City.

Cudny mark the lying cheating bastards neck wi a blow torch and he typifies every single hun on the subject.
Happy to cheat and win and accept the plaudits but also happy to call out cheats who win and demand reparations for those who were cheated.
This takes hypocrisy to a whole new level.
But in a country, particularly ours, it’s the fact he knows he can say what he wants without question that emboldens him.
We shouldn’t really blame Sourness and his ilk, it’s all the media’s making.
In any normal world, tv pundits, newspapers and the likes would be all over him for the lying snake he is….but no, not here.
