PERTH, SCOTLAND - SEPTEMBER 09: Celtic's Mika Baur celebrates with Kasper Hogh as he scores to make it 1-0 during a William Hill Premiership match between St Johnstone and Celtic at McDiarmid Park, on September 09, 2026, in Perth, Scotland. (Photo by Ross MacDonald/SNS Group via Getty Images)
Shortly before the opening SPFL Premiership match of the season Celtic agreed an £11m fee with Bodo Glimt for the striker.
Hogh arrived in Scotland having scored seven goals in 12 Eliteserien matches.
At Celtic the Danish striker scored a first half hat-trick against Kilmarnock in his second match but hasn’t netted since in eight other appearances.
Since losing out on a Champions League place to LASK Celtic’s season has been in a tailspin.
The supply of chances to Hogh has dried up, Camilo Duran has suffered as the Celtic side has failed to function, failed to create chances.
After three defeats in eight days the Celtic squad split up with Hogh reporting for international duty for the first time as a Celtic player.
Naturally there was intrigue over his move from the smooth running Bodo machine to the madness/pantomime at Celtic.
While Kjetil Knutsen has been in charge of Bodo on an upward curve for a decade Celtic appear to have been in a state of chaos for the best part of a year.
Reacting to his switch The Sun reports Hogh saying:
It’s been a huge experience. Celtic is a huge club. Everything is just bigger. There are more fans and there are more people watching you.
Of course, it’s always difficult to move to a new country, but this is really good for my development as a person.
When I had to make the leap from Denmark to Norway, I had problems because of the anxiety that was deep inside me.
But now I’m in a completely different situation. I’ve found peace in God, I have a wonderful girlfriend who has moved in with me, and I still have great support from my family and friends.
I was also ready to experience something new. I wanted to get out of my comfort zone. And that’s why this change is perfect for me right now.
AS HAPPY AS HOGH
Rasmus Hojland is the established first choice striker for Denmark with Hogh the back up.
The Danes are Group A4 of the Nations League alongside Norway, Portugal and Wales.
Being taken out of Celtic for over a fortnight should provide Hogh and his fellow internationalists with a decent break before the pressure resumes.
Four international matches are quickly followed by a similar period at Celtic.
Between October 11 and 21 Celtic face Motherwell, Benfica, Hearts and Celta Vigo.
At any time that schedule would be demanding, after three successive defeats the pressure will be intense from the kick-off at Fir Park.
Hogh and Duran will be expected to deliver goals but that will be largely dependent on the service that they receive.
In the Glasgow Derby on September 20 Celtic started with no wingers and finished up with three on the pitch.
Hogh was a half-time substitute in that match with virtually no supply to his feet inside the penalty box.

Remember john hartson wisnae that good to start with.
