Willie Collum was upto his usual verbal gymnastics as he excused Don Robertson’s drive to disallow Shim Mheuka’s goal against St Mirren.
Gordon Duncan provided the nodding dog questioning as the SFA screened their first VAR Review show of the season.
Collum repeatedly said ‘we don’t guess’ through the 40 minute whitewash while the audio proved otherwise.
Selecting the ‘kick point’ seems like a Committee decision as the VAR and his assistant try to work out the point of contact.
A camera from the halfway line is used for the ‘kick point’ on Camilo Duran’s disallowed goal.
Viewers are then expected to believe that the exact same instance is used for the still in line with the goal which conveniently shows Duran’s toes beyond the magic line.
Collum repeated the claim that ‘we don’t guess’.

Next up was the Mheuka ’goal’.
The VAR officials try to get lines on the kick point but are unable to produce a line on St Mirren defender Alex Gogic.
Robertson on VAR duty then completely takes control.
Collum explains:
What happens here is that, when the VAR officials are analysing it, they use a variety of angles, Gordon. In their opinion, the Celtic player is offside.
If they think the player is onside, or we think there is serious doubt about it, they don’t bring the referee to the monitor. But here, in their opinion, the Celtic player is offside.
I think the majority of people looking at that would agree that the image the Celtic player is offside.
Opinion is used twice, think is used twice. There is no evidence
He informs match referee Ryan Lee of his feeling that Mheuka is offside although he has no evidence for it.
Lee is taken over to the monitor and talked through the process to disallow the goal.
As he speaks back to Robertson he twice says OK? to ensure that he has the approval of his senior colleague.
The Willie Show didn’t go near the two handed push on Liam Scales in the same match that didn’t result in a penalty.
Wednesday’s match at St Johnstone didn’t in the show.
With his payment from the SFA collected Duncan reverts back to deflecting away from SFA failings on a daily basis on Radio Clyde and Sky Sports.
The next VAR Review show will have the Sebastian Tounekti cross against St Johnstone to cover. As well as two Glasgow Derbies.
Andrew Dallas and Steven McLean are on VAR duty at Ibrox on Sunday, McLean was VAR for the 1-0 win over St Mirren on Wednesday.
Well after seeing the footage and Williams explanation, my opinion is that this is as bent as an EBT. There is no evidence of corruption or incompetence but it is my opinion.
