Dermot Desmond had a round to forget on Day 1 of the Dunhill Cup at Carnoustie.
Playing with Davis Bryant of the USA the Irish businessman finds himself in joint 149th place after the first round.
A combined score of -2 leaves Desmond struggling to make it through to Sunday’s final round on the Old Course at St Andrews.
The Dunhill Cup is one of the highlights in Desmond’s calendar.
Since 2001 he has only missed out on competing once. In comparison he hasn’t attended a Celtic AGM since 2006.
The Dunhill jolly has turned into a family affair with Brett Dery and Ross joining Daddy to mix with some top golfers and fading celebrities in need of attention.
BRETT RESCUES THE DESMOND FAMILY AS DERMOT, DERY AND ROSS STRUGGLE
Brett did the family proud, after day 1 he is sitting in joint sixth place with a score of -10. Just two away from the leaders.
Daddy is ahead of Ross who is in joint 158th place on a score of -1. There are only four pairings behind Ross who was looking very impressive in practise but seems to have fallen apart when the proper action got underway.
Dery Desmond fared slightly better with a score of -3 leaving him in 129th place.

Ross did deliver his Dad’s speech to the Celtic AGM last year.
In a blistering attack on supporters he delivered many blockbuster lines including the classic:
We will not be railroaded by those whose only vocation in life is to be anti-establishment and by those who try to degrade the club.
Anyone with a passing knowledge of Celtic will know that being anti-establishment is a badge of honour.
It may not suit a PLC but that phrase was a driving force of those that started the club in 1887. It is in the DNA of the club and support.
Today the Desmond lads will again be playing on different courses as the Dunhill Cup continues.
Dery is teeing off at 9.55am from St Andrews, followed soon after by Ross at 10.06 allowing golf fans to follow both matches.
At 9.55Â Dermot will tee off at Kingsbarns, high flying Brett is also playing Kingsbarns, teeing off at 9.33 a few matches ahead of Daddy.

Despot sounds about as proficient at golf and everything else as his hero and role model Trump.
