Biram Kayal picks up one match ban

|

Biram Kayal Celtic newsBiram Kayal is out of Celtic’s trip to Motherwell on February 27.

The tough tackling Israeli midfielder picked up his sixth SPL booking of the season in yesterday’s 3-1 win over Dundee United.

Kayal was cautioned by referee Mike Tumilty in the 84th minute to take him onto the 18 point disciplinary mark which triggers a one match ban.

Under SFA rules that begins a fortnight after the final offence which means that the midfielder will miss the trip to Fir Park rather than Sunday’s clash with Rangers.

After picking up the January Player of the Month award Kayal said: “I am very proud to accept this award. I am grateful that the manager has given me the opportunity to play after coming back from an injury.

“But I think every Celtic player could have won this award because everyone has been excellent in the last month.

“Most of us are new in this team and we are still trying to gel as a group. We are very talented but it took us a long time to adjust to the Scottish way of football.

“But we feel very strongly that the team is very connected with each other and the manager and we know where we are heading.”

Mark Wilson was also booked yesterday, for his goal celebration, and is one more yellow card away from suspension.

Cha Du-Ri’s ankle injury and the long term absence of Andreas Hinkel means that Wilson is the only recognised full-back left on Celtic’s books.

Efrain Juarez does have some experience of that position but after starting against Aberdeen on Febriary 1 the Mexican has failed to make the bench in Celtic’s last two matches.

That headline scared the shit out of me, thought he was going to miss Sundays game

    Chill Tyrone

If our midfield dynamo was missing the Rangers game it would have been everywhere in BIG BIG letters.

I don’t think that Biram will be devastated to miss the Motherwell match, with his ban out the road it’ll be full speed ahead in the run in.

February 27th don’t you mean Joe?
