Duff and Phelps Rangers newsDuff and Phelps have received no outright bids to take over Rangers.

Despite indicating to Ally McCoist that they were anticipating half a dozen serious bids for the club no firm offers have been made due to the uncertainty over a number of issues.

As well as a possible tax bill of £49m there are question marks over the legality of Craig Whyte’s takeover last May and a deal with Ticketus that gives the London based business over 20,000 season tickets for the next three seasons.

Rangers also face a ban from European football if they are unable to provide audited accounts before the end of the month, the last audited accounts for the club were upto 31 December 2010.

Tonight administrators Duff and Phelps stated: “It is evident from our preliminary assessment of the expressions of interest and indicative bids that prospective purchasers are looking for clarity on certain issues at the earliest possible opportunity prior to submitting more detailed formal bids.

“There are complex issues to be resolved and there is no doubt they are having a bearing on the bidding process. At this stage we have indicative and conditional bids only.

“Our next step is to review more thoroughly the bids we have received and to determine which could offer the best return for creditors. We will also consider the terms and conditions that any party has attached to their bid.

“This process will involve further discussions between ourselves and interested parties and will begin early next week with a view to clarifying the content of each offer.

“The key element of the bidding process thus far has been to give prospective bidders the opportunity to demonstrate their funding capability.

“We cannot, under our remit, exclude the possibility of a bid by any other party and interest was expressed by a party today suggesting a bid will be made over the weekend.”

I made a bid of £1:50 ( I know…I know ..I’m throwing good money away)…but that represents a 50% profit to the owner and that’s an excellent return in today’s market.

My bid has, however, certain provisos and conditions ..some of which are…

    A) I don’t owe anybody else anything …full stop.
    B) Craig Whyte comes back in a Senior Capacity.
    C) Mr.McCoist must be retained as manager.
    D) Players of the calibre of McCulloch and Broadfoot must be given long term contracts.

The list is longer than this ..but you get the drift.

I’ve since had a text to say that my bid is one of the preferred ones…

I will keep you posted of developments.

    Mikey Bhoy,

Your bid is probably the most sensible on the table but, like the other shining Knights (yes, that IS rhyming slang) you haven’t stated what your plans are when HMRC demand their £50-75m, Craig Whytey refuses to sell AND UEFA investigate the sinister and shady goings-on between the SFA and Rangers?

I bet your response is just like the others:-“We’re too big an institution and Scottish Fitba wull die withoot us. We arra peepul!”

  • Ciaran says:

I also made my bid, however, it was doomed to fail when nobody had change of a fiver.

What a complete farce…Dumb & Dumber could not expect anyone to seriously offer money with Rangers in the state they are.

Major debts already and many more to come
Investigations aplenty and very possibly even more major problems. If found guilty of playing illegal players, stripped of titles….those clubs cheated will want / expect re-imbursement of prize money which will amount to £75-100m or more for the 12 years of underhand dealings……They are running out of time FAST

Where were these blue knights before when they could have bought the club off murray ? .Happy Saint Patricks day .

  • mick f says:

I’ve heard there was ONE genuine offer. Two real Rankers fans (whatever that means it’s all we seem to hear) have offered to split their giro’s & cut back on the number of pies they eat. There we go Gers back to the top.
