Backtracking Regan justifies summer of spin

|

Stewart Regan newsStewart Regan has attempted to justify his summer predicting the slow lingering death of Scottish football.

Along with Neil Doncaster no one did more than Regan to try to accommodate Sevco before fan power killed the best laid plans stone dead.

Regan was the author of the self congratulatory e-mail that detailed the steps required to provide Charles Green’s side with a First Division place that prompted several SFL clubs to call for a vote of no confidence in the chief executive of the SFA.

With his plans rejected by the member clubs Regan then allowed Green to decide when to impose a transfer ban and provided Sevco with SFA membership despite no audited accounts and the chequered practices of the oldco.

Regan also feared social unrest if the Ibrox side were placed in the Third Division.

Speaking at the draw for the last eight of the Ramsdens Cup Regan defended himself saying: “The information that was put forward by everybody was based on the knowledge that we had of get-out clauses that existed in the contracts for commercial partners.

“What was done at the time was to draw attention to the potential consequences for the game and that has now progressed to a stage where those commercial contracts are in a slightly better place, but we won’t know what the full consequences will be until they are played out in the coming months.

“We are in a better place than perhaps could have been imagined as far as the negotiations that have gone on between the SPL and their commercial partners. I’m not sure whether the contracts have actually been signed but the feedback we have had has been positive.”

Regan anticipates that Scotland will benefit to the tune of millions of pounds from UEFA plans to centralise television rights to European Championships and World Cup qualifiers but such an agreement would remove competitive internationals from the deal that the SFA currently have with Sky Sports.

  • Stevie says:

On the back of Regan and Doncasters prediction of Armageddon and convincing sky to lower the pittence they give to Scottish football I kicked sky sports into touch.
No more will I subsidise English football.

  • Richard says:

I too binned Sky for the start of the new season.

Albeit I go to the local pub for away games, would rather give them the cash for a couple of pints!

    • Stevie says:

      Good to hear that mate.

We’ve got the worst TV deal in Europe and we’re meant to be thankful.

Celtic one of the biggest clubs in the world and we get a tenth of what Wigan or Fulam get no thanks Sky GTF.

    • Stevie says:

I now subscribe to Celtictv £40 a year see full match not live but money goes to the club.

Reagan trying to defend the fact that he’s Ogilvie’s bitch. Sorry pal, you can’t defend the indefensible.

I love that picture of Reagan at the top: “Calm down! Calm down! I make the fecking tea in this house.”

  • sands1888 says:

Dirty cheating scum, hes well suited to his team eh? The main question is why havent they been sacked?

  • Terry O'Neill says:

    regan has become fully assimilated.

He is now firmly part of an organisation that will bend, break and ignore in order to preserve a corrupt football club.

At every turn they have put off carrying out their duty to the game.

He at the end of the day is a paid employee.

He has lay down with dogs and is now carrying the fleas.

    • Wonky says:

Terry- you give dogs a bad name. What has man’s best friend ever done to you to deserve comparison to this weasel?

  • shooglynifty says:

I don’t understand anyone who still has Spy in their house. I threw that crap out years ago as i didn’t want to fund that criminal Murdoch any longer and got a Dreamb*x. If you have a broadband internet connection over 2mbs get the box, pay £20 per month (less if you buy a year subscription) and get all the premium channels, Sports, movies, and whatever else you have to fork out to watch for £20. Wouldn’t fund those overpaid fuds in the Premiershit.

I binned sky too and went with bt as they give espn free and its cheaper too stuff sky and their epl counterparts. Commentry on tuesdays game on ITV was shocking apart from WGS they all wanted to talk about CFC weaknesses never mind the fact that this team does not want to know defeat and if PL gets the cheque book out then Lenny can get the final couple of nails to finish building what he has started…. HH

  • tallybhoy says:

Does nobody realise that he is an employee?!

Empolyees are often sacked – whether for incompetence or other reasons!
