Bahrudin Atajic Celtic newsJohn Kennedy could hardly be happier with the way that his new look side are setting the pace in the u-20 league.

Tuesday’s 4-1 win over Hamilton Accies picked up on the impressive display seven days earlier at Motherwell as the youngers made it three wins out of three to move clear at the top of the table.

A brilliant 30 yard drive from Patrik Twardzik gave Celtic the lead at half time but a devastating burst after the break, with Twardzik heavily involved, saw Bahrudin Atajic net twice with Denny Johnstone also on the scoresheet.

For a fifteen minute period Celtic found a new gear with their impressive pacy passing matched by decisive finishing that left Hamilton reeling.

“As coaches we are very pleased with the way the side is developing and producing winning performances,” Kennedy admitted.

“There are a lot of positive aspects to their play but it’s not a surprise because I know that we have a great squad of players.

“They work hard at their game and you can see that taken into their performances.

“Patrik Twardzik and Bahridin Atajic are leading by example and that’s giving the younger players the confidence to express themselves.

“Hamilton caused us some problems but we coped well with it and scored good goals.

“We’re delighted with the start that we’ve made to the season but everyone knows that they have to produce the same standards on a consistent basis.”

There is no u-20 fixture next week with Celtic’s next match against Sporting Lisbon in the Next Gen Series at Firhill on September 6.

Promising signs for the future…some very tough matches ahead in the Nextgen though especially v Sporting Lisbon who must be among the favs.

Very pleased to see we are using the opportunity to promote even younger players to give them mroe experience. Unlike Hibs who I note played almost a full U20s side v St. Mirren recently including the 3 over age players allowed – obviously results do matter more to some. I prefer to see these games used to develop future players for the first team.

Keep up the great work bhoys.

Fantastic displays by a very young side – quite a few are still eligible to play for the under17s.

    HH!!
