Efe Ambrose news

Efe Ambrose prepared for tomorrow’s African Nations Cup Final against Bukina Faso by meeting up with some members of the Johannesburg Celtic Supporters Club.

Plans to watch the 3-1 win over Inverness Caley Thistle were kicked into touch by the Nigerian FA, keen to ensure that the defender is at peak fitness for tomorrow’s showdown.

The local Celtic supporters club contacted the defender with their invite after discovering that the Nigerian squad were in a hotel 10 minutes from their base.

Despite being far away from Inverness Ambrose was fully upto date with all matters Celtic and in good form as he met up with Bill McIntosh and the Jo’burg Bhoys.

“I will step off the plane and onto the park if needed,” he answered to whether he’ll be available to face Juventus.”

Nigeria are strong favourites to beat Bukina Faso who are ranked 92nd in the FIFA rankings but the main concern for Celtic fans is if Ambrose will be back in time to face Juventus.

“We will see how Efe is when he comes back,” Lennon explained. “I don’t know what his travel arrangements are just yet. We want him back as soon as possible, obviously.

“He has not been around us for a month so it might be a gamble putting him in.

“Juventus are a formidable team, a daunting prospect, but I think the players have been looking at this game for quite a while and I am looking for a big night from them.

“We have been overdosing on them the last few weeks in terms of DVD analysis. Juventus and Barcelona are two different sides, two different mentalities.

“I think Juventus are more pragmatic. Barcelona do a lot of things off the cuff because they are so good.

“Juventus are very rigid in their formation, three at the back, one sitting and two wing-backs getting forward.”
