Jonny Hayes could be a summer transfer target for Brendan Rodgers.

According to reports in The Sun and the Daily Record the Aberdeen winger is in Rodgers’ thoughts as he looks to strengthen the Celtic squad.

Hayes opened the scoring in the Scottish Cup Final for Aberdeen on Saturday but had to settle for a runners-up medal thanks to Tom Rogic’s late winner.

Rodgers took Hayes from school in Dublin to Reading but the two have never worked together at a senior level.

The Celtic boss has a habit of signing players that he has previously worked with as he reunited himself with Scott Sinclair, Dorus de Vries and Kolo Toure after taking charge of Celtic.

Hayes moved to Scotland in 2009 to play for Inverness Caley Thistle then switched to Aberdeen five years ago. With Patrick Roberts returning to Manchester City, Kris Commons out of contract and Gary Mackay-Steven attracting interest from The Championship Celtic are certain to be looking for players in wide positions.

There was strong interest in Hayes from Cardiff during the January transfer window before he agreed to a new contract with Aberdeen.
