Brendan Rodgers has hinted that Jozo Simunovic could be in the Celtic side to face Paris Saint Germain tonight.

The defender played his last match away to Anderlecht at the end of September with Rodgers openly frustrated at the injury problems he has had to deal with in central defence.

Nir Bitton played in both matches against Bayern Munich but with Simunovic on the bench at Ross County on Saturday he could find himself reunited with Dedryck Boyata in central defence.

Yes, Jozo is fine if we chose him then he is fit to play,” the Celtic boss explained to The Sun. He has had that time training and working in game like situations. He will be OK if he is chosen.”

Tony Ralston is the only player missing from the first team squad that flew into Paris yesterday.

Rodgers has a number of big selections to make and is bound to have half an eye on Sunday’s Betfred Cup Final against Motherwell in mind.

Unusually the Irishman has picked the same starting XI for the last three matches but with two high profile games coming up over the next four days it’s expected that greater use will be made of the full squad with Patrick Roberts and Olivier Ntcham likely to feature.
