A number of Celtic fans have called for the departure of Peter Lawwell after it was announced that one player has tested positive following the training trip to Dubai.
The club has been on the defensive ever since pictures emerged of Scott Brown and Neil Lennon enjoying a poolside drink in the aftermath of the defeat in the Glasgow derby.
Neil Lennon and John Kennedy have both spoken out about the benefits of the trip but after the news this afternoon responsibility clearly lies further up the command chain.
In November when the trip was approved by the Scottish Government the conditions were much different. While still legal to go ahead with the flight the five day visit has gone from a PR disaster to something much more serious than that.
Celtic’s run of form through November into December ought to have created second thoughts, when the five day Christmas window was reduced to one it would have been the responsible move to announce that the trip was being cancelled.
All sorts of hard work stories can be put out, features with Ismaila Soro and David Turnbull produced but with one player testing positive the club has failed its employees with many fans believing that Lawwell has to take full responsibility for his action, or inaction.
Peter Lawwell and the management need to resign, now. https://t.co/TVZqJsBy1m

This attitude that if you criticise the club you can’t be fan. Is one of the reasons why Lawwell gets away with his incompetence. You have your head in the sand.

Maybe Lennon and Lawwell can explain why the trip was made? “The United Arab Emirates on Friday had 5,055 new cases nearly double the Scottish numbers of cases. There is a lot of Covid in Dubai. The club, when they’re in Dubai, have to follow the rules. They have to distance.”

Peter Lawwell should be sacked for gross negligence sanctioning this trip. Absolutely appalling decision making that has unnecessarily endangered players and staff. Not to mention the negative PR associated with the trip.

Anyone tell me why we are keeping lawwell and the PR team to the end of the season? ????

@CelticFc Project penny pinching Lawwell is the main culprit. Lack of ambition not wanting to pay for the right players to deliver the 10. Were in some mess now.

Peter Lawwell should be sacked for arranging the trip and Neil Lennon for sanctioning it.
They need to be removed from the club immediately.— 3.14 (@ThreePt14) January 10, 2021

I can’t believe a CEO of any business with mismanagement of a company so badly, would not be under some kind of scrutiny. When you’re so arrogant and believe you’re untouchable this is what happens.
Celtic are a shambles.
Lawwell has too much power and must be removed— Sharkybhoy67 (@sharkybhoy67) January 10, 2021

So #Celtic player tests positive for #Covid are we surprised when players went to #Dubai, didn’t wear #facemasks or #SocialDistancing when pictured. Our club is an absolute shambles & embarrassment under this management & board that’s strongest words I have for #CelticFC
